I mentioned that I wouldn’t be surprised if we made a move for Nkunku/ Felix with Garnacho going the other way. It’s now being reported that we’re in for Nkunku. We haven’t seen much of him in the league but clearly a top talent. What’s everyone’s thoughts? He would cost £70m but can play the number 10 roles. He’s performed well in Europe so it might give us a boost there if we’re to bring him in.

Felix makes more sense positionally I think under Amorim’s system.
Still uncomfortable with the sale of Garnacho. Rashford can go, but there’s a player there with Garan.

Maybe Garnacho plus a little cash?
Still can’t believe this club is having to consider this type of deal but it’s the new model for raising cash. Almost a two steps back to move forward situation.

Isn’t Nkunku always injured?
25 Jan 2025 08:14:03
I'd stay clear of nkunku, we don't need another injured player. If we were looking at anyone from chelsea I'd look at Carney Chukwuemeka.
I hope garnacho stays. Think he adds something different to the other 10's we have.
If it is about having to sell rather than wanting to, I hoe he ends up at napoli.

I agree Tom.
There are a number of players I’d allow to leave ahead of Garnacho to free up and raise funds. But when we’re being realistic, look through the actual squad and who could actually raise any funds for the rebuild?
Lindelof, Maguire, Casemiro, Rashford, maybe Onana? Malacia?
Not exactly a stellar list and none are much sought after. This goes without saying nobody till but Shaw, Antony or Mount from us. Mount’s fitness is actually more vital to us than we know. He’s perfect for the 10 roles.

I agree - I would love to see Mount out there giving 100% because that’s not always guaranteed in a United shirt.

£70m is a crazy fee for a player who cost Chelsea £52m two years ago and has spent most of the time since out injured. When he has played for them, he hasn’t been great.
I might be tempted by a Felix-Garnacho swap deal as I think the former is probably a better fit for Amorim’s system than the latter, but like others, I’m not sure how I’d feel about letting Garnacho go to a rival. It’s clear that he’s not a good fit for the system that Amorim wants to play, but also that he has the potential to become a top player. Seeing him do that with another Premier League club would be a lot more painful than if he did it overseas.

I like Nkunku, but the player we should absolutely be going after for that 10 role is Cunha from Wolves.
Additionally, we need to significantly drop our asking price for Rashford. He needs selling before Garnacho, and is obviously of no use to us as he’s not even being considered for selection. Drop Rashford’s price to £30m and I genuinely believe we’d have multiple offers within hours. It would allow the West Hams of the world to become plausible.
Likewise with Casemiro. £10m would have the Saudis, Americans and Brazilians swarming.
All of a sudden, our sixth choice no.10 and fifth choice midfielder are out the door and we have £40m in the bank plus saving circa £600k per week in wages.

If Garnacho leaves in January I'd consider Nkunku on loan until the end of the season without an obligation to buy but maybe with an option.
He's a good player, but has a patchy injury record.

Wonder if no takers for Rashford it means he might play in place of Garnacho on the left.

Would ya shappy? Are you in charge of united transfers now?

Endo, I can neither confirm or deny that. ?.
