Being suggested (in The Express at least) that United are pushing to recruit Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes this month. If true, opinions?

Yes, seen a few reports on this one.
Intrest in mendes, kerkez and reported last night we are also considering Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. Can't say I've seen Dorgu play but the frist 2 would be an upgrade!

This rumour is by no means new, it has been talked of for some time.
RA gave him his debut at Sporting and he thrived there, earning his PSG move pretty quickly, only played about 40 odd games for Sporting.
He is a wing back with good speed and good technically, a good attacking player but needs a bit of work on his defensive side. Only 22 so it would seem he could well be the right type of player we need. Talk is RA is very keen to recruit him.
We shall see.

Fully expect to see us bring in a LEN and a Rashford replacement in the window at least.
Cas moving does make us light in midfield, so either Collyer has to step up or Bruno moves back.
