Looks like awb is staying.
08 Aug 2024 08:05:57
We ought to be focusing on the priority positions of CB and CDM right now.
AWB leaving ior staying is what it is - he’s not that good we will miss him, and he’s a decent back up if he stays.

--------------Needs to go on the Teams page--------------

Fair enough.
AWB leaving and being replaced is ideal, but if we can't move him on and he stays for another year as back up it's not the end of the world. Just means we need to dig a little deeper next summer to buy a replacement rather than raising the funds for his replacement from his sale.

Presumably Dalot will play be first choice RB if Shaw's fit. Priority has to be CB and a defensive midfielder.
08 Aug 2024 14:09:40
Is dalot any better at rb than maguire or lindelof are at cb. I don't think so.
08 Aug 2024 16:02:38
We are looking like going into the season with a worse squad than last season
I get it’s bad luck with yoro getting injured but surely the club knew the priority was sorting that defence out 1 18 year old cb is not enough let along the midfield
We are an injury away to Martinez from having to play 2 of linder Maguire and evans, we still don’t know how shaw will be, malacia is getting paid to sit at home and young amas is not ready yet.
Very worrying espically as we are close to 1 week away from the first game of the season
A lot of talk from ineos but not a lot action (are we right to start panicking with the lack of signings)
Inability to sell players who are on high wages from the previous regime has left us in a pickle
3 years on and we still have the 7/ 8 players who started ten hags first game.
08 Aug 2024 16:53:21
Eth has brought in 2 xcb 1 x lb
4 x cm plus a youth
3x forwards plus youth
He has brought in a full team practically so he has had support
No excuses for the manager at all.
Can't shift players due to the need to be compliant with the rules it's going to take time.
Don't worry it's a game and hobby. If you start worrying about it stop watching, worry is bad for the health.
08 Aug 2024 18:43:48
Give it a few weeks, Ken, and I’m sure he’ll find some.
08 Aug 2024 18:54:49
I don't know why anyone would panic. We all knew the reality, we have have spent a fortune on dross, overpaying for then in wages and fees.
Either we will have to bite the bullet and take a hit, which is going to stop us from spending, or we have to wait for their contracts to run down to shift them.
It was always going to take years to rebuild, which is why spending money on players who won't be part of a challenge in 5 years is fruitless. It would just be more money wasted on players who want help bus reach the end goal.
I am happy to see money being spent on players like Yoro who can develop. I am happy to see youth coming through. I don't mind a slow rebuild without challenging if we are doing it to a plan and putting pieces in place to get to wear we want to go. I honestly think we will take 5 years to get back to the top because of these rules so don't see the point of buying a short term fix to push us to 6th rather than 8th if its then going to stop us getting a players in 2 years time who will be a piece of the final puzzle.
08 Aug 2024 19:13:44
Has he got his 1st choices though or even his 2nd or 3rd. Then has he had to settle for other targets simply because the club was so inept at transfer dealings. Maybe we'll never know. Maybe that's why he kept going for former players or players he knows well.
Now the club has a seemingly proper structure in place we may start to see little positives here and there so time and patience is what is needed now.
08 Aug 2024 21:25:38
His only signing who has been convincing wasn’t even first choice. If we’d have got Timber we would be none the wiser.
I hope to be able to say Zirkzee was an inspired signing, I know next to nothing about him or how we’ll look with him in the team but it’s a side in dire need of rejuvination from somewhere.
08 Aug 2024 23:41:25
Martinet was always the obvious signing there was a discussion back when Timber was first discussed here. Then people jumped on Martinez's height because they had never seen them play. Martinet was always the out. Ball and controlled the Ajax defence, Timber was never the first choice.
09 Aug 2024 08:05:00
I don’t doubt Martinez is the better player Oakbark but to suggest he didn’t want Timber initially is nuts after several very public bids before he moved onto Timber, who was talked out of joining by LVG.

I don't get this "we're starting the season worse than last season" nonsense.
Yeah, if you discount the players starting this season injured, but ignore the injuries we started last season with, then yeah, I could see how you might think that. That's what happens when you cherry-pick data.
09 Aug 2024 12:47:42
Because we have got rid of varane, who was our best defender, and Cassemiro is another year older.
Our first team is worse.
09 Aug 2024 13:36:33
We'll also be missing our top scorer. 1st and 2nd choice Left Backs.
Amrabat is also gone and there's no replacement in yet.
Eriksen has lost his legs as well.
09 Aug 2024 20:43:06
If you look at it that way, we have Garnacho and Mainoo one year older, which in this case is a good thing, we have Mount back from injury, as well as Martinez and a new signing in Zirkzee.
Sure, we do need more, but it isn't as grim as you guys put it.
