I see that Romano has given a 'here we go' for the signing of Chido Obi Martin, really good news but will be glad when contracts signed.

Seemingly he has turned down higher offers from Germany to sign for us as he was more convinced by our 'project' than others. Interesting to see that last season we were second in the list of highest minutes given to teenagers, in PL, with 2,898 mins. Arsenal by contrast were 17th in the list with 13 mins! He was unconvinced of getting opportunities and hence him leaving.

It seems we will be paying him £30,000 a week, not bad for someone who was born in 2007, oh to be that age again. I have socks older than him! No doubt the Arsenal fans will say he is only leaving for the money (they supposedly offered him £15,000 pw) but it seems clear he is making the move for the right reasons and not financial ones.

Looking forward to seeing him play.

Yup. If this goes through, it will probably be the signing I’m most excited about.

Think I read somewhere that the reports of £30k a week are inaccurate.

The reports of 30k a week originated from an unreliable source and have been piggybacking on all other articles. I'd be surprised of the salary isn't closer to 15k.

I also read he was considered to be so good (for his age) that he would already be considered our third choice CF behind Rasmus and Zirkzee, so I expect to see him at least in the matchday squad often. With Rasmus' injury that makes him our 2nd choice, and the first choice hasn't even played a minute yet!

Be interested to see what the eds know of him I've only heard about his exploits in the u18s I think at arsenal.

Seems a good finisher I worry slightly that he scores a lot in some matches and not much in others rather than his goals coming consistently through each games.

{Ed001's Note - I have just seen lots of clips of him, but they were not enough to get any kind of idea about him as a player.}

Not every good academy player makes the transisition to mens football, our academy is testament to that. Let's see how he settles in.

From the few clips I've seen he obviously has the talent to make it, and for a young lad he he is very physically developed and looks like he should be able to handle the transition physically. Whether he makes looks like it will depend on whether he has the mentality to overcome the set backs and do the necessary hard graft to push his development, along with the luck required to get his chances.

He is still very young and probably a couple of years away from regularly pushing to be in the first team squad. By which time Zirkzee will be 25, and Højlund will be 23.

If both have worked out and are firing it will be challenging for him to get game time. However, if one or even both of them haven't worked out as we hope then there might be an opening for him.
