Garner to leave?

If ten Hag has given this the green light after wasting weeks trying to sign a player who doesn't want to sign, then he is absolutely going to fail.

I know Garner hasn't set the world alight at United, but on loan he has shown he has the tools to do a job and only needs a run to integrate with the first team.

I'm not saying he's going to tear it up, but he's already better than McTominay and VdB who are not worth the bother.

If United sell Garner, then they deserve all the failure they stumble into.

This is pathetic.

But if he’s been told by the glazers he needs to sell if he wants funds then I guess Garner is more sellable than McTominay and Fred. Would we get £15-£20M for either of those 2?

Are you wingeing again? Garners not good enough get over it. Neither are mcfred but their time will come.
You really rid of 2 experienced pl players to keep a kid that didn't really do much on loan at forest? Or you just wining for the sake of it?

We don't have a money tree (thankfully as it might mean glazers p|ss off) so funds need to be raised to buy sparkly new shining toys which we can then say are not tall enough or fast enough, or won't cut it in the premier league after 55 mins of football.

Our Midfield crap so moan over their backup being sold.

Maybe EtH doesn't think he's good enough, maybe Garner has asked to go who knows but it's hardly this massive loss and worthy if the histrionics as though we are a 21 Scholes or Giggs go.

Doing it in the Championship is one thing, doing it in the Prem is another.

Oh FZZ, calm yourself.

Firstly, not once have I referenced height of any player being an issue.

Secondly, should I seek your permission before whingeing?

Thirdly, if United want a new shiny toy, then why not get rid of one of three players who cannot perform as defensive midfielders, instead of a youngster who can but hasn't been given a fair crack at United?

Ultimately, your opinion is just that - your opinion.

Tell me, where are United getting in their pursuit of a DM?
Who's coming?

And why should 3 senior players who would be 3rd, 4th and 5th choice for the only midfield positions they can perform in be untouchable?

We won't get FdJ, Rabiot is not a DM and would push the other 3 further back again, EtH doesn't want to play Martinez in midfield, Iqbal is not a DM, Savage lacks the experience for such a disciplined role in the first-team, so why sacrifice a DM who's not really been tried and actually did perform quite well in a position that's arguably United's biggest weakness while out on loan?
As a heads up, I actually watched him at Forest last season, all day he's better than the other 3 in DM.

I'll criticise every stupid decision at United, and this is just absurd.

Fred is 29.
Donny and McFlurry are 25.
Have they ever cut it in DM?
No, so any staunch defence of players who have never been good enough in a position for which they have just the one experienced special-ist but would prefer to sell would be daft.

Now let's have it right, EtH wanted to bring in Arnautovic - that would be stupid.

What we're seeing is a manager of great esteem coming to a much stronger league after being sold a lie by a club that has been a shambles for years.
They have no clue of how to do things, they booted RR for having the nerve to criticise, and now we see a manager flapping.

Do I think he'll succeed at United?
I believe he could, but this is a stupid decision that inevitably raises questions.

As long as stupidity is the theme at United, you bet I'll whinge.

Cheers.

If we let him go we need to put in a buyback clause or a sell on fee. Garner could become a top player.

16 Aug 2022 00:35:25
He's nothing special at all, not sure why everyone's getting their panties in a bunch over it.

16 Aug 2022 11:18:14
He's a decent player, but I can't see too much point in holding onto him if a decent offer comes in other than us being quite light in numbers. I agree if the FdJ chase doesn't bear fruit we have no-one (inc Rabiot) who are remotely good enough to control a midfield. I'd like to see Iqbal, who was outstanding in those preseason games, get a chance over Garner personally.
If Forest move for Garner and get Aouar they'd have a better midfield than Utd. Scary.

16 Aug 2022 14:40:50
But Spenno, Iqbal is a box-to-box midfielder - not a DM.

Honestly, I quite agree - I'd sooner have him play, but not at DM.
I'd already put him ahead of Fred, McFlurry and VdB, which would relegate then to 4th, 5th and choice advanced midfielders and, thus, suggests even more need to shift at least one of them.

I firmly believe this would represent one of the most stupid decisions made at United since Fergie retired, and there have been plenty of those.

Obviously, I could be wrong.
FdJ could turn around and declare he'd love to sign.
Or Donny or McFlurry could suddenly become the next enforcer.
However, I suspect there's more chance of the moon growing ears.

The Garner and Arnautovic decisions are very worrying.
