Rabiot and arnautovic. wow. I honestly don't know what to say, we are just repeating the same old mistakes. Poor planning, poor execution followed by blind panic in the transfer window. Honestly I'd rather give savage, Iqbal and Garnacho the game time.

The sentiment of bringing on the kids is good in theory and in preseason. But within 30 seconds of Malacia coming on yesterday he'd been skinned by Lamptey, hacked him down, and was inexplicably left marking Dunk which was like Bilbo Baggins marking the Rock. I think we've got some great kids in there but the Prem is not a place to rely on them.

I get u but I’d rather that than those players linked above. We got rid of players in the summer who had mouthy agents, were on big wages and had questionable attitudes and now we are looking to bring in players with those same flaws. It makes zero sense other than they are cheap.

I think the dreaded term 'transitional period' is what we should maybe be looking at. Arguably we've been in one since SFA stood down with each new manager bringing in a combination of youth with their own new signings including older/ more experienced players, which has admittedly led to the mix n/ match assortment of oddballs we have (different point altogether) .
But the ten Hag was meant to he the new approach. No transitional players, only the 'right' young, hungry players in the right positions.
However this has already been broken - Eriksen is surely going against the grain and has just been poached as he was free. Not arguing with his signing, in fact it backs up the notion that we should probably be eyeing up players of a similar demographic.
I'm not saying Rabiot or Arnautovic are the answer, but in the absence of de Jong, Nunez et al being achievable, there still has to be some older more experienced heads who can come in and steady the ship which is the requirement at present. Liverpool and City didn't go for the big guns right away - there was first a period of getting by with the likes of Grujic and the Ox, and Bravo, de Jong (Nigel) while the other 'plan' was taking shape in the background. Stopping the rot before world domination.

Rather Sh1t in my hands and clap than sign either of them.

The smile on Malacia's face when he found himself marking Dunk, was priceless ?.

I agree that things wouldn't look much better with kids, but if we get Arnautovic and Rabiot, we will be trying to get rid of them after one season. As we always do, we give high salaries to players who r not good enough, and then they don't want to leave. We ain't getting that top4 either way, I would rather see kids play and they maybe become much better for the next season. With players like Arnautovic and Rabiot, u know what to expect, u know their limits. Kids might improve, these guys will stay average.

I think we can get a bit carried away with this obsessive notion that 'playing the kids' would bear fruit. I don't doubt they need to play (as sub roles) in order to improve, but which sides at this level consistently play/ start with a handful of youngsters (ie teenagers) .

The occasional beast comes though but they are few and far between and I don't think we currently have any at this club that should be a starter.

They're not built for this level.

Remember when Evra and Vidic first turned up, they were shocking for the first six months, then they settled and understood the requirements of the Premier league.
