Summary of the latest rumour vid from the mupsters if permitted: (dont shoot the messenger :P)

De Jong - No new updates but United need to pay around 80m Euros.

Eriksen - Offer made, no rejection, waiting for answer.

Antony - Wanted by Ten Hag, 40m offer isn't enough for him.

Martinez - Also wanted by Ten Hag, 40m would be enough.

MAY have to choose between one of the last 2. Price for Antony could be prohibitive at the 55m price quoted.
Oh and Jones/ Bailly/ Axel are all absolutely for sale. They don't want them. They're not "waiting to see" on any of those 3 names.

Well if those are the targets, nice to see ten hag is thinking outside of the box with signings and not just opting for players he's coached before.

I’m raging he’s not pushed the boat out for mbappe DSG.

Barca have untill the 30th to make a deal or they can't use the funds to count towards next seasons wage structure he said

So they need to get a deal done soon.

DSG, is it suprising?

Many managers prefer to sign a "known" quantity over an unknown quantity.

If you're heads on the block are you going to go for those you know and trust or take a gamble on someone else for millions of pounds.

He doesn't know the squad, he hasn't trained them, he is in terms of personality rebuilding the squad blind.

He needs as many players with great personalities and work ethic as possible.

He hasn't been had the the time to work with the squad, understand the players capabilities to play his style, their personality. He also hasn't by had months to plan for new signings to fit the current squad, to scout specific players, draw up a shortlist, look into them beyond what they do on the pitch etc.

We have seen the departure of the two most senior scouts at the club.

Also I'm glad that this time the club seem to be listening more to the manager and letting them take more of a lead in the signings.

Nearly every manager we have hired post Sir Alex has signed at least a couple of players that the club had "lined up" before they took over. With nearly all of them struggling and not suit the new manager.

Best to go with players the manager knows and who he knows suits his style of play.

i don't remember Klopp getting the band back together at Liverpool from his Dortmund time or Pep trying to get his old Barcelona players over to City.

Also I thought we were meant to be transitioning away from a manager led approach on transfers which has led to a squad comprised of 5 different managers players to a more "committee' led approach but who knows.

22 Jun 2022 09:15:48
DSG you don't remember Pep taking ALcantara to Bayern? Or Bravo to City?

22 Jun 2022 09:47:09
I reckon Guardiola would have loved to have taken Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol if he had a realistic opportunity to get them. Same with Bayern, the players only leave there when Bayern no longer want them.

Klopp was linked with Dortmund players but admitted at the time Liverpool couldn't get in to big money signings at the time.

22 Jun 2022 09:56:47
DSG. Klopp joined Liverpool after the transfer window had closed. He managed them for close to a full season before he entered a summer transfer window. He was also unemployed for several months before joining Liverpool having left Dortmund.

He had time to assess that squad.

Pep, went to Bayern before joing City and even had a year off on sabbatical between leaving Bayern and joining City. Rumours suggest that he was lined up a long time before he took the City job and that the club were using him as a consultant of sorts with transfers before he took the job.

Both cases are very different to the one EtH finds himself in. Where he has jumped from one job straight into another and now has to decide transfer targets having never worked with the squad he is now manager of.

There will be players in our squad that us fans have written off who actually do well under EtH and will suprise us. While there could also be players we think are good enough who either don't gel with EtH or suit his style of play.

Bruno for example is a player I wonder whether he suits EtH's style. He could adapt, but he won't fit well with EtH if he tries to play as he has over the past 2 years. Maybe that is why EtH supposedly wants Eriksen.

Those are fair points about it being easier to get players out of Ajax, than dortmund or Barcelona.

I am not anti ETH signing ex players and the De Jong pursuit makes perfect sense to me given our huge deficiencies in central midfield and how good a player de jong is.

The links to Timber, Martinez and Antony make less sense to me given the fact Ajax are going to be reluctant sellers given they've already sold gravenberch and the big step up it is coming from the dutch league to the Prem.

Take Antony for example, aren't there any other left footed brazilian right wingers who are potentially available for transfer that have premier league experience. I don't know like that guy at Leeds whos had two good seasons in the premier league already.

22 Jun 2022 14:10:02
DSG, is that the same guy at Leeds who will cost more than 55-60m and is currently being chased/ considered by Barcelona, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.

Three of which can offer UCL. While I can't see Leeds being over the moon to sell to us.

Antony on the other hand has played for EtH, and apparently wants to join. He's also 3 years younger.

I'm sure there are many very good or even great players out there available this summer for the right price.

However, as a club who have finished 6th we have to accept that we aren't the most attractive club to join currently. We might have to lean on those who have a strong connection with the manager to get players into the club.

Assumably ten hag will be implementing the same style at Utd that he's instilled at Ajax so makes sense to go for Antony or Rafinha in terms of that, plus age and mooted value (although £40m for Antony if true does seem a little light) . Throw de Jong, maybe either of the CBs and Donny into the mix and he has 4 players well up to speed on exactly what is expected of them.
