Jim Ratcliffe rumours gathering pace. Has he put a late bid in to Chelsea for £4.2bn knowing it would be dismissed just to illustrate he's looking to buy now? Surely £4bn would open even the Glazers eyes to the inevitable. It's that or watching United decline whilst still milking £30-40m a year in dividends. A No Brainer even for them to quadruple their 'investment' with not a penny more outlay?

Pipe dream unfortunately…our useless owners aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Unfortunately I can't see it happening. ED002 did say on the Chelsea page, that he would a very good owner.

I think it would cost too much to buy Utd, when you consider the debt, the OT refurb and the training ground refurb costs. The likelihood is that the Glazers would want top dollar for the club.

How much is Chelsea fetching? £2.5bn (going to charitable causes? ) + £1.75bn in other commitments? They have a smaller ground that's landlocked but they do have ECL revenues and a far more valuable squad, and no public debt to carry. With its bigger ground United has more potential in the long run even if gate revenue as a % is a much smaller share of total revenue than it used to be. But given the squad rebuild, the £500m debt, and a scheduled £200m OT improvements, I can't see United being worth any more than Chelsea as of today. This generally squares with a market capitalization of $2.2bn. The risk the Glazers have is that EtH cannot turn the ship around, in which case the club could become less valuable.

United aren't for sale, Chelsea are. Man Utd are not well run, Chelsea are. The guy is a business man and a very successful one.

The both need investment in the ground.

To buy Man Utd right now you would be having to overpay for the club to prise it from the Glazers, this doesn't make business sense compared to bidding for Chelsea imo.

That's not to say I would not want him too I would love him too. Everything you read about him and his brother makes them sound like they would be good owners.

Shawthing- i wrote very similar recently- not about RATCLIFFE-he would be a good owner no doubt -but i think the Chelsea situation flushed buyers out .

Now, United in my opinion if United sold at 4.2 billion -600 mill on ground improvement and expansion 200 mill on players -would be an intial 5billion investment - with no debt going forward and a resonable budget each season for players we would be a very good investment for a lot of those buyers who showed interest in Chelsea seeing as our commercial pulling power is far greater than Chelseas.

{Ed002's Note - You are making all of these numbers up - you are wasting your time.}

Nonsense numbers.
Where do get no debt from?
Do you expect a potential new owner to raid their piggy bank and pay cash and write their investment off.
Unbelievable Geoff.
Ignorance is bliss
My oh my.

of course i'm making them up, the clubs not for sale apparently and if it were no one knows what the sale price would be.

Investment ken? Is that what Newcastle owners have done? If someone buys a club from their personal wealth -or piggy bank as you childishly said - with no loans then a commercial giant like United generates enough wealth to have a profit at the end of each year -so yes there is no debt. Buying as an investment, or proppping up with loans that need to be paid back is something else.

Not sure how many mergers or companies in Europe youve bought in the last 35 years but you might want to wind your neck in before calling folks who have ignorant.

3 companies full acquisitions and transitioned 4 or 5 multinational brands.
Off course there is debt silly billy. You think there are no personal loans on the books it would be financial suicide and not tax efficient.
My neck is fine.
