Happy Friday all

I must say as dreadful as this season has been, I am optimistic about the EtH appointment. Providing he is given the tools and freedom needed over the summer to recruit the right people, I expect that we could see an identity change in the way we play quite quickly.

I do want to probe an Ed if possible. RR said in his post match interview that a rebuild is required because of contracts expiring and that there may 6 - 10 new players.

Would this be over a number of transfer windows? or is the overhaul that extensive that we could see this over the course over the summer.

{Ed002's Note - Six players are out of contract in the summer although one may be forced to stay another year through an option the club has. Others are to be sold and replaced.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is the club considering enforcing the extension on Matic Ed? That would seem very unprofessional after he announced that he would not be taking up the option.

{Ed002's Note - No, Matic is not one of the out of contract players, but he is being allowed to leave as well.}

Hi Ed, would I be right in saying Chong is the player who may be forced to stay due to the option the club have with the other 5 with contracts expiring being Grant, Pogba, Mata, Lingard and Cavani?

Now that the new manager has been announced, do you have any idea on which other players may be looking to leave/ the club may be looking to sell in the summer?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Chong may be force dto stay. I very much think that the new coach will look to revise the list of those leaving from what it is expected to be at present. By how much I don't know. Decisions will need to be taken about the likes of Garner, Telles, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Tuanzebe and others. Youngsters will need to assessed.}

Ed, is Paul Mitchell joining United?

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement with any club regarding Paul Mitchell but he will be leaving in the summer.}

I think it’s probably likely to be 5 or 6 signings and then players coming back from loan being added to the squad, the obvious one being Garner but you’d assume Donny will get a chance as well.

The squad is bloated anyway we need to reducw the size of it, we ain't going to be in the UCL and we could end up having no europe at all.

Cavani
Pogba
Chong
Matic
Mata
Grant
Lingard

All leaving on frees, then yoy have the likes of

Jones
Bailly
Tunzube
Then awb?
Dalot?
Williams?
Henderson?
Martial?
Pereria?
Greenwood?

I can't see at least 10 leaving through sales ans frees, martial williams and awb will prob stay along with dalot

Going to be a very busy summer.

In my opinion I think we could see at least 10 players leave the club with the 5 who’s contracts are expiring + potentially Chong, Matic, Jones, Pereira, Tuanzebe, Williams, Bailly, Martial also leaving, with the latter 5 players ideally generating an extra £50-60m to add to the transfer budget.

Henderson could also leave either on loan or permanently + a few youngsters will go out on loan.

In terms of signings however, I don’t see there being more than 5.

Van de Beek and Garner will likely rejoin the squad to fill gaps in midfield as I can’t see us going to the market for more than one midfielder. In addition to a deep lying midfielder, other areas that will need addressing are a back up GK if Henderson leaves, a left sided CB, a CF with Cavani and (probably) Martial leaving and hopefully a special-ist RW (preferably left footed) as all our wingers prefer the left side.

I could see Sam Johnstone returning on a free as a back up GK. I’d love Nunez and Neves to join as the CF and CM with someone like Raphinha or Antony as the RW. If something like this happens I can’t see there being much left in the budget for a CB (I see CM, CF and RW as higher priority positions) so we may have to look at the lower end of the market for a CB. In terms of free agents Rudiger would be the absolute dream but as that is unlikely we would maybe have to settle for someone such as Zagadou and revisit the CB situation in a year.

Whatever happens, I've actually got a little hope about the summer. As long as united start next season with 11 players on the pitch who actually care, tackle, structured and want to play for the shirt then I'm happy. Just feels like I'm back in the 80s but back then we had players that cared. but I'm hopeful for Eric.

At least in the 80s we had Robbo at the club.
