Hi Ed, there is a report in England today that Ralf has already contacted RB and agreed a verbal fee over Haidara. But the club are yet to sanction the deal. You have stated he is A top target for Ralf, and a deal can be done here, you were well ahead! Do you think AFCON could be holding us from making a deal til later in the window or just United being United and not backing Ralf after appointing him?

{Ed002's Note - Step change for Manchester United if the temporary coach is now dealing with the detail of transfers.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point. Suppose it is unlikely for our interim manager to be able to say much about transfers.

I feel that club will be somewhat reluctant to buy players, given that a new manager will likely be in place come the summer.

You don't sign players for 6 months, you sign them for 4-5 years typically.

It makes no sense signing a player to specifically fit a temporary manager. If a signing of a long term target or a player who can and will be part of the long term thinking is available then I suspect the club will move for them. Otherwise not.

RR's consultancy role surely includes direct input towards the next manager and presumably would have a similar philosophy. So I can't see how it's strange for him to sign anyone. The issue is from the player's side, as they won't know who the new coach will be.

Surely critical things - including a January budget and whether the club would back him - that would arise during Ralph's 6 months were discussed when first speaking to him. I doubt he's suddenly woken up this week to find they've decided to completely go back on any agreements. I think a little patience is needed.

Expectations have been set far too high. We are in a period of realisation, where the club must sort out its structure a d next manager correctly or else find themselves as an EL club at best.

The club are perhaps fortunate that those who aren't performing don't have lengthy contracts. i'd imagine a few players will be sold at a loss.

The first step to success is to admit that they have got things wrong and address them accordingly.

Finally, time will, as always tell, and a trophy cabinet, be it full or empty, will be the way or measuring the clubs success.
