Thoughts on reports that we 'want to land Paulo Dybala'?
He's a great player but how would he fit into the system?

Ed002 already confirmed that Juve may try to use him in a deal for Pogba.
I personally would prefer Fernandes for the No.10 role but Dybala would also be an improvement on what we currently have.

Di Maria didn't want to join us, stayed a season and left at a loss.
Pogba didn't want to join us, but we were the only ones prepared to pay the price. Now he has been actively trying to leave for over 12 months.
According to Ed002 Dybala would rather move elsewhere and doesn't want to join us. At some point we need to stop signing players who don't want to play for us.
Dybala talent wise could be an excellent player. But if he doesn't want to join then it would be best to avoid signing him.

I understand the sentiments and I agree with them.
However with us no longer in CL and looking like a team that is rebuilding, what top class players would want to play for us?
SMS would be awesome in my opinion but does he want to play for us?

These players don't have to join us though. Surely they can refuse the move.

They can Mort. However, as they get a cut of the transfer fee and higher wages more often than not I suspect they are "happy enough" to go through with the move. As we have seen players can and often do move a year or two after joining a club.
Would you be happy to move to another club if you would get 10m extra. After all it might only be for a year or two.
Di Maria reportedly made 14m from his one year move to Manchester. Or he could have sat on the bench at Real Madrid for a year to wait for his move to Paris.
Even I'd live in Manchester for a year for 14m. 🤣.

Italian media is saying Dybala is open to a move. Us and PSG were mentioned.
They re also saying that if Dybala moves, Juventus can then go for Pogba.

It’s possible that a move for Dybala (as long as he wants it) could mean this for us.
Dybala (70m) + 80M To United
Pogba to Juve (Pogba out)
That 80m could mean Maguire or Fernandes or SMS to Utd.
Would you swap Pogba for Dybala + 1 of the other 3?
That could see us add 2 good players without spending any more of the current budget!
Pogba for Dybala and Maguire then we go and buy SMS for the reported 67M
That’s a strong defence, strong spine and creativity behind the young front line
I would be tempted as this would improve us greatly with only 67M outlay on top of what has been spent on AWB + James.

Why is that Scouse?
The reports (if they are to be believed) say Pogba at 150M. Juve value Dybala at 70M.
Therefore Dybala + 80M gets Pogba for Juve. Remember they want Pogba.
Maguire is said to be available at 80-90M
Seems pretty straight forward to me.
