Reports coming out that we're close to signing Swansea's Daniel James for £15m.
With how inflated the market is this seems like a low risk transfer, anyone know good the lad is / can potentially be?

I don't want to hype the guy up too much but i think people are saying he's the welsh messi.
10 May 2019 09:28:05
Had anyone seen him play?

Decent lad with blistering pace. In the last year of his contract and playing in the Championship at a club who will see a drop in their parachute payments next season. So 15m seem about right.
I think Ed002 said that he only knows of interest from Leeds. Could be media hype to put pressure on them to conclude a deal quickly.
{Ed002's Note - There is sustained interest from Leeds and Newcastle see Daniel James as a Potential Plan B to another player. Certainly players at Swansea will have been scouted as Premier League clubs search for home grown players, and certainly he is seen as a decent player but I am not aware agreement at this time.}

Fast as . but raw talent-at £15m reported not a huge financial risk - giggs rates him highly and who knows ; a dele alli type opportunity.?
{Ed002's Note - It is rather different to Dele Alli as he would take up a squad place.}

Decent player, only young would be an interestingly signing .
The lad is quick quick.

Buy to loan out maybe?

I follow my local side Forest quite closely and hence have a decent handle on all things Championship.
James has been a revelation this season, lightening quick, strong and two footed. Has all the attributes to make it at the top level and for me represents a shrewd signing (if it goes through) .
Giggs a big advocate also which has no doubt had some impact.
I think he will be in and around the first team. Maybe 20 appearances or so next season to break him in.

ed002- I meant as in getting at a bargain price for a young lad with potential- Alli was apparently below £5m but his worth now.
{Ed002's Note - But he did not take up a squad place.}

I think Cookyman maybe referring to the Dele Ali signing from a lower league team proving to be very successful by being a regular 1st team player and getting into his International team.
10 May 2019 12:05:29
Think that makes sense Eric, from what I've been told he still needs game time. So maybe loaning him back to a championship side or Leeds if they still want him / get promoted.
Defo sounds like he's one for the future.

cheers ports- some people over complicate statements when there is no need.
10 May 2019 12:22:36
God forbid there is any positive to this haha, looks a good signing, sure we will have 'squad places' to take up. Would be very surprised if we loaned him back.
10 May 2019 14:56:29
ED002 do you mean that Dele Allis age meant he did nit take up a squad space.
Or are you implying that James is just a squad player at the best.
{Ed002's Note - It means that James would take up a place in the 25 man squad which Alli did not.}

DSG, I just watched him on YouTube for three minutes and he's definitely going to be better than Messi and Maradona combined. Definitely.
10 May 2019 19:59:54
Reminds me of Bale in his early Southampton days. Blistering pace both with and without the ball. I can see why he's worth the gamble.
10 May 2019 20:58:16
Not sure clubs gamble. I would think they have researched and scouted him before making a choice on a move.
10 May 2019 23:26:58
FZZ judging by recent signings we definitely gamble and the house usually wins.

Thanks ED002.

I think after a long time we are buying a proper winger otherwise there are always inside forwards mentioned. We need lots of balance in the squad, be in first 11 or 25man squad.
