Brentford have always indicated they wanted similar money to the Cunha deal.
Both players are the same age, play in similar positions, play in the premier league and arguably Mbeumo had the better season, so I don’t think Brentford are being unreasonable and I don’t think they will lower their demands.
Up to this point I’ve had no problem with Utd trying to negotiate a better deal, especially considering our financial position, but Amorim needs him for pre season and he must go on the US tour in my opinion.
Surely it would be idiotic to walk away over a difference of perhaps £5m after negotiating for so long with no obvious pivot option, especially as Utd have just paid over £60m for a player with a very similar profile. On what basis are we trying to negotiate the deal down?
If Amorim has to go on the US tour with only Cunha then I think he’s been badly let down. I’d like to have seen Mbeumo, and new CF go on tour and even a new GK in an ideal world. I think that would have been an excellent start to the window, a new front three to solve our goal scoring problem and we all know the problems with Onana. That being said I think we have to get the Mbeumo deal done now and get him on the tour to give Amorim a fighting chance.
Will it happen? Who knows with Man Utd!

I can’t have onana in goal, he’s a disaster. To go into next season with onana and hojlund just sets us up to fail.

With the clowns that are running our club mate you can’t take a guess on anything.
Honesty don’t get what they are doing.
Pre season starts tomorrow and he’s got 1 player in to suit what he wants.
Not even an average start for him atm, they are letting him down at the minute.
What is it nearly 2 months negotiating for a player when they have been told how much they want.
Remember when Ed (rip) use to bang on about how amateurish we are, we may have a shiny new boardroom and staff but it looks like nothing has changed what so ever.
