Igor Jesus of Botafogo looks a good striker against Athletic Madrid tonight. knows where the goal is and works really hard for the team. Anyone got a more informed opinion of him?

Looks like a forest player to me.

23 Jun 2025 22:06:22
Isn’t he going to forest?

23 Jun 2025 22:13:53
Only 5ft 10 but believe he has or is about to sign for Nottingham Forrest.

23 Jun 2025 22:31:39
Get ready to see him in Premier League next season.

He is expected to sign for Nottm Forest when CWC is over. He will do some damage to defences. He has been described as a modern day Didier Drogba, got that physical presence, technical skills and very high work rate, good at holding up the ball and bringing others in to play.

Wonder if you can think of anyone else looking for this type of player!

By all accounts Forest have hooked a good un, clearly we shall see! If he is that good will no doubt be on the move for a big fee in the not too distant future.

Question is why do we not seem to be able to buy such players? I get that it's a different level playing for a club of Utds stature compared to Forest (no disrespect) but if you have good scouts surely they should know if a player is capable of making the transition from eg brazil to us?

Very simplistically isn't it : does the player have the right mentality, physicality and skills?

The skills should be self evident as should be the physicality. The hardest question is whether a player has the right mentality but by asking enough of the right people and watching him closely you should be able to see if he does.

Seriously he played in this ridiculous competition, he possibly going to Forest and now he the modern day Didier Drogba. Please come on, if he was the modern day Drogba or anywhere near he would not be going to forest but have every top club all over Europe fighting for him.
Unbelievable the way our standards have dropped and supporters view what suits us, Rasmus was supposed to be the real deal!

24 Jun 2025 07:15:47
German as I said I don't know enough about him but the fact still remains when did Utd last buy a player from South America especially but in general from anywhere who was not really big money and turned out to be a top top player?

{Ed077's Note - When did Utd last buy a player from anywhere who was not big money and turned out to be a top top player? Most purchases have been horrendous to put it mildly ?. It is unfair on everyone to use Utd as a barometer ?

I read yesterday that Vivell has lead a big change within United's scouting setup and there will be a bigger focus on data rather than in person scouting. Will be interesting to see what players United look at next summer.

24 Jun 2025 09:26:03
We just bought one this summer due to be official on july 1st.
In fact we did the deal last year but had to wait for him to turn 18.
Before that I think it was the de Silva twins who despite getting quite a few games were pretty poor players as it turned out.
Rafael left making the same dumb mistakes he made in his 1st season he was an empty head along with his brother fabio. Neither achieved playing for a top club after they left.

24 Jun 2025 10:24:23
Ken,

I believe Rafael won 3 premier league titles with us so he can’t have been that bad really, I think we would take that from any signing we made now. He played 28 games the last time we won the premier league. Fabio was never quite as good but Rafael did very well for us.

24 Jun 2025 12:15:08
He was not a very good player gds2.
How many prem medals did luke chadwick win?

24 Jun 2025 12:16:29
Furthermore how well did he do when he left at a young enough age? Maybe he didn't have great players around him making up for his poor play.

24 Jun 2025 12:43:57
Chadwick won 1 league title and made 16 appearances maybe off the bench. I knew that giving you facts wouldn’t make you change your mind but just thought I’d try anyway, the Chadwick comparison is a bad one though.

I don’t think you play 28 games in a title winning side if you’re a bad player.

24 Jun 2025 13:00:33
Do you think david may was a good player at this level gds2?

24 Jun 2025 23:00:42
Yes he was a brilliant squad player, won 2 league titles and played 40 games in a title winning season.

25 Jun 2025 12:27:56
David May cleared a goal in the scored to last home game in 99 that had he not done so we would ahve lost the league and who knows how history may have unfolded after that.

Moments in time for me. He was a solid back up CB and often played out of position too.
