How many weeks has it been since we had our 1st bid rejected for mbeumbo?

Not to start a rant but we have just had our worst finish to a prem season ever, would think the club would be moving a lot quicker to get players through the door we need, espically after more than once we’ve stated “we have a plan”

I think even with mbembo we still need a number 9, a cb and another cm. not to mention a keeper (although cannot see that unless Onana is sold)

It’s quite worrying how hard we find it to sell players, at no fault of Ineos as they were given there contracts pre them taking over but the players we are trying to sell we are stuck with,

Sancho and rashford won't take a pay cut, and what clubs are even interested, Garnacho has the ego of Ronaldo and is demanding wages more than what he's performing on and is putting teams off and no one wants to pay the money for Antony.

We need to get a move on.

I gave up soon after, "Not to start a rant but. "

It might start moving after July 1st. Isn’t that when the new year starts for PSR?

20 Jun 2025 17:14:31
It’ll happen.

Rashford, Sancho, Antony and Garnacho will all be sold/ loaned out in the next couple of months, I’m absolutely certain of it.

It’s going to be a busy old window. It’s only just starting.

There is considerable talk that we put a new bid in yesterday, in excess of £60m, we are awaiting a response from Brentford, apparently expect to hear in the coming days.
I would be fairly confident they are carrying out a lot of work, behind the scenes, in an effort to move players on which, as we know, is massively important.
It may be frustrating but suppose we have to be a bit patient.
Let's not forget the window has only been back open a few days.

{Ed077's Note - The add-ons are already counted for? Why is it that the "reported figure" for Man Utd, Liverpool are with add-ons but for City, Chelsea they're not?

20 Jun 2025 17:50:28
Welcome to our world 077. It has been thus for United for many years.

{Ed077's Note - I don't know what to say

20 Jun 2025 18:11:28
No idea Ed, suppose they want to try and make things look worse for Utd and L'pool and better for City and Chelsea.

There definitely seems to be an agenda whereby Chelsea never get questioned about the money they spend, isn't it over a billion in 2 years? . Much is said of our failures but never a word about Chelsea's. Given the number of player's they signed must be many.

How many are they going to sign this window? Should be a competition, how many signings will Chelsea make this window. I go for 11.

{Ed077's Note - Chelsea have sold most of the club assets to the owners, to get round the FFP issues. How that complies with PSR is something way beyond my comprehension. Why isn't there a big news cycle on them selling off the hotels, the women's team, everything off to "truck" the financial rules? Less said about City the better

That's right Ed, they found a bag of chips outside the ground and tried to flog those as well. Supposedly the authorities checked these deals out and gave them the all clear.
It may be paranoid, but I genuinely believe these financial rules are not trying to ensure financial stability and sustainability but merely a power grab by the authorities who could see their control waning and used the issue of finance to re-establish dominance.

Some moves happen quicker than others. Cunha for example was an easy deal to conclude, he only wanted to join us, and had a set release clause value.

Mbeumo on the other hand has had options from other clubs that he has seriously considered, but supposedly has decided he wants to join us. While Brentford don't have to sell as there isn't a set fee, and they want as much as they can get for their best player. They've tried to get other clubs involved to create a bidding war, and they are holding out for as much as they can get. While United have many positions that we need to recruit while being sensible with spending to avoid breaking PSR rules.

There are also two other factors that will likely be dragging this one out. Firstly Mbeumo is on holiday and isn't available to complete his medical etc. So no need to try and rush something through. Secondly, if the deal is concluded after the end of June it goes on next year's accounts, while we also have the final COVID impacted year drop off of the PSR calculations which makes a difference on what we can afford to spend.

I expect this deal will be concluded in the first few days of July for those reasons.
