Can't understand all club of our size have never brought through a goal keeper from the academy. A few had promise, but never progressed, very strange.

Agree3 Disagree0

We had one, currently at crystal palace, would have been a starter for us now if it wasnt for Covid and Ole lacking the cajones to drop DDG.

They can’t seem to catch a break.

Certain positions are more difficult to break through into the first team. Keeper being probably the hardest one.

All youngsters make mistakes, it's part of the learning process. But positions like keeper get punished far more for their mistakes. Then add the pressure and expectations of playing for us and it's no surprise that no young keepers have been able to break through.

Dean Henderson came pretty close and he'd be a big improvement on our current options.

Elyh Harrison is highly rated, but he will struggle to get regular game time. He'll probably need a loan.

Same scenario at most clubs. what club has brought a keeper through the academy to be their number 1.
Bit more likely on the continent but most seem to move to lesser clubs for game time then come through elsewhere.

We’ve brought plenty through that have had solid careers at other clubs and played for their country.

Just didn’t get the chance at gutted because by and large we had great keepers that were difficult to dislodge. But Heaton, Johnstone, Henderson, gollini, Kovar, o’hara. All these jars have had decent careers. Hard to say that we haven’t produced one.

Iker Casillas did alright too.

Correct though, doesn't seem to happen in this country too much.
