As it is, Arsenal at home is a corker. Obviously not the choice I'd have gone for but with that 'cup final' opening day summer atmosphere with both sets of new players on view, should be a cracker.

Happy with that game to be honest, a chance for the team to go a lay down a marker for the season. Be a good indication of players mindset and approach to the pre season they had and therefore the upcoming season.

Saw the fixtures when I woke around 8am, leaked on social media. Some big games early so we will need to hit the ground running.

According to Opta Analyst, Utd have the most difficult opening 5 games in the league :D (Arsenal h, Fulham a, Burnley h, City a, Chelsea h) with the average Opta Power Rating of their opening opponents being 94.6
Villa have the easiest.

In those fixtures last season, we took 8 points against the teams who were in the league, let's be optimistic and say we'll beat Burnley at home, that's 11 out of 15 possible points. Everyone would take that.

It should focus the minds of the directors to get key players in early in the window. They need to be in and ready for the start. There is a whiff of delay right now and Amorim needs to have time with them. Suspect we could be waiting for 1st July for financial reasons and players will be on holiday, but cannot delay key signings this summer given the opening fixtures.
