Think this new strategy will have us avoiding both Goykeres and Osimen, given age and reported wages. I can see us going for younger cheaper option again, hopefully they will be better than Hojlund.

I don’t think we’re avoiding Goykeres. More that he doesn’t see joining a bottom half EPL team as career progression.

As for Osimhen, wages and attitude are both red flags.

But, we should be looking for an established striker. The team needs a more experienced player. We have a terrible record of improving young strikers over the past decade.

Don't think we can call two players' unwillingness to join United a "new strategy. "

What issues with Osimhen? Seems to me wherever he goes he does his job well. Scores goals.

There is an obsession with us improving our 'goals for' column in the league table.
Introducing Cunha and Mbeumo will do that, no doubt.

I think everyone needs to remember, we aren't looking to score 100 goals next year, we need to realistically add 25 to last years tally to be in the European spots.

So again, perhaps getting Mbeumo over the line ends our investment in attacking options for the first team.

Assuming Mbeumo is over the line, I think there will be a shift towards securing the GK we want, whether that is a short term fix (Martinez etc) or a long term vision (Garcia, Lammens etc) .

For a myriad of reasons, perhaps the striker market passes us by this summer. Just a thought. Cue the negativity from the usual suspects. ?.

And don’t forget the elephant in the room Jimbo. We’ve still got Rashford on the books, and there is no reason why he can’t play for us as No9 if he comes back up for it and wants to bury the hatchet.

I don’t think he’s a lost cause at all, and aside from the Barcelona potential interest, I think he probably gets he’s got very few really good options this summer.

As for Sancho - lost cause and needs to be shipped out asap. And we will undoubtedly cash in on Garnacho rightly or wrongly.

But you’re the one being negative, with not adding a striker…. I know you have some sort of love in with Zirkee, who is just never ever a EPL striker…. We not even got Mbeumo…. now your saying if we do get him we go into season again without a out and out striker, so Cunha or Mbeumo get a injury or suspension, we again hardly score any goals.
Plus your thinking Zirkee gets what 5 goals in the season, you then relying on Cunha 20 plus Mbeumo 20 plus that ain’t going to happen…. Bruno adds what 20…. be lucky if one out of that 3 got 20 goals…. We don’t get that may goals from other positions.

18 Jun 2025 08:56:02
Eric, precisely, it is t as if we don't have options in that position.

Helmet, you're like clockwork.
How am I being negative?
By pointing out that we are not assembling a team this window to challenge for the title next year?
By saying we add two players that between them will undoubtedly make up the shortfall of goals for?
By having a 'love affair' for a player that I have repeatedly stated is not in the slot to be the out and out striker you desire?
It is as if you read what people write, and then just repeat the same rhetoric to anyone that will listen.

Here's some news for you pal.

When a clock strikes on the hour every hour without fault, the audience stops checking the time.

Good post jimbo.
Helmet ????.

Amorims biggest challenge is cultural, not tactical or ability.

None of the players we sent lut should ever wear the shirt again. And Garnacho absolutely must leave.

You don't change culture and attitudes by showing any element of weakness no matter how easy to capitulate.

There is not a snowballs chance in hell of those players playing for United if there's the same sense of corporate ruthlessness in Ineos brought to Uniteds boardroom.

Eric rashford is dead at it club and rightly so. The chapter is over the book is closed. Get him and sancho and garnacho out as soon as possible.
Poor professionals we don't want or need them.

18 Jun 2025 16:30:50
Agree Tumbleweed.

But even if Rashford’s conduct wasn’t an issue, he has never impressed as a central striker. Ten Haag tried him there, and he flopped, and Rashford’s issues with Amorim started because the system doesn’t use a lwf.

For me, Rashford wants a very specific role in a team. He wants to play wide and high up the pitch because this gives him the best chance to run behind the defence, cut inside, and shoot. He’s very much a one trick pony, and is getting easier and easier to defend against as he gets older. Used centrally, he doesn’t hold the ball up, or occupy defenders, or link play. All he does is make poorly timed runs in behind.

That’s want coaches are for. To coach players. I’d welcome him back if he can improve his attitude/ off field problems. he's a better striker than Hojlund.

19 Jun 2025 07:19:12
If coaches was magicians then maybe…. but there are lots needed before coach can improve.
