Bruno declaring he wants to stay is a positive thing for the team.

It's never good for a team to lose it's captain and best player.

There was definitely an argument to be made that long term maybe a sale for north of 100m would have allowed the club to rebuild faster and not have to worry about Bruno declining or how to replace him when that happens.

I'd have been fine to see him leave, but I'm happy to see him stay.

I see there is now some concerns over how we potentially fit Bruno, Cunha and Mbeumo into the starting line up.

As I see it we don't have to. Football isn't about having 11 superstars on the pitch, surely Real Madrid's failed Galacticos proved that beyond a doubt.

I'd imagine that Bruno will continue next season much as he did this season, playing some games as one of the attacking midfielders and others in the double pivot.

You don't always have to or even want to start all your best players. Otherwise all your options from the bench to change a game are poorer than the options on the pitch. Do you really want to potentially weaken your team when you are trying to change the tide of a game? Probably not.

Also both Cunha and Mbeumo are tactically flexible enough to play as a striker or false striker at times. A big part of Amorim's system/ style is positional rotations. Players need to be comfortable playing in several positions on the pitch, and probably will play in several positions at various times during a game.

We need a squad not just a team. With Bruno staying and if we can get Mbeumo over the line then I see us only signing one striker and no other players in attack or at wingback. Or at least no senior players who would expect a decent amount of playing time in the first team.

Cunha, Mbeumo and a striker, then a midfielder and possibly a keeper looks to be our summer business. To be honest I'd be pretty happy with that depending on departures.

This summer is shaping up to be quite different to what we've become accustomed to over the past decade. It is refreshing and hopefully will bare more fruit that we've previously seen. I'm hopeful for next season.

Bruno is our best player and sets the bar for our current crop of players and our future signings. Keeping our captain in this case makes the transition easier for the high volume of personnel change we are currently going through I believe. The Saudi option will most likely always be there for him, but for now the man and his family have turned down mad sums of money to stay with us, (yes yes, I know he already gets paid more than enough as a pro footballer) . Bruno is DESPERATE to win something, and with us!

'Concerns'? Nope. If he has been our best player with the shambles over the last few seasons, imagine when he has better players around him. Competition for places is vital to drive each other on. Different options and skill-sets are also vital.

Maybe misplaced optimism on my part (always been a glass half full guy) . But absolutely buzzing for next season already!

I think credit has to be given all round even by those that have nothing good to say about our investors.
The manager wanted the player to stay they have backed him. I don't think any fan can ask for more than that. More importantly bruno wanted to stay.
He put his family first and they put his career wish 1st so I think it's a great story from every respect as a united fan. I've always seen it as a win win. Would have been happy either way.
We only have one in. Let's hope we get mbeumo done quickly and give Brentford a fair and quick deal.
What more can we hope for this window?
St gk cb wb cm still required to be 60% through ac squad re build.
Some of those unlikely to be solved this summer. We might get a couple through from the academy to push that percentage up.
I wonder will mbeumo be looked upon as a cf option?
As it stands on our books for those 2 10 positions we have (assuming mbeumo) bruno cunha mbeuno mount mainoo sancho rashford garnacho antony . Plus amad but i think he is destined for rwb. The last 4 likely to be sold. Mainoo could drop deeper which he prefers. Bruno could also play deeper. But not with mainoo i'D suspect so looks like lots of options. Still need an upgrade for the cas/ ugarte position. Like with gk you can't understate the importance of their role in the team and they are the 2 vacant positions as far as I'm concerned.

I just don’t see where Bruno plays in Amorim’s system, especially if the plan is to buy Mbeumo and a striker on top of Cuna. He lacks the discipline and grit needed to play further back and gives the ball away far too often. It’s already problematic when he does it higher up the pitch. To have him doing it right in front of our defense would be catastrophic.

Bruno is a great player, but £100m would be a lot more useful to us right now than a square peg in a round hole.

Just as well your not picking the team. The manager wants him has a plan obviously. That story of over.

04 Jun 2025 08:39:01
100M can get you only Antony or Grealish these days. It's a massive risk to replace who guarantees 30 Goals and assists every season.

With proper preseason, players will understand their positions better and develop tactical understanding.

''The manager wanted the player to stay they have backed him'' didn't think it was down to Amorim Ken?

04 Jun 2025 17:56:13
It wasn't ports it was up to the player. Amorim wanted him to stay but the decision was not his. If he wanted him sold and the player didn't want to leave them he would have stayed. He did all he could and influenced both player and board but ultimately the decision was not his he held influence but no power to decide.
As bruno said himself if the club needed to sell him he would have gone.

04 Jun 2025 18:46:35
He’s got a contract til the summer of 2027 so not quite Fernandes’s decision. And if Amorim had said he’s not in his plans and that £100M we can invest, you think the club would say “No Ruben, Bruno wants to stay so we’ll turn it down”!

I tell you what, let’s see how the Højlund situation pans out, he’s supposedly said he wants to stay and the club have said if a good offer comes in they will be considering it. Unless Amorim wants him, I think he’s gone.

Rasmus is gone…… pointless keeping him, shown nothing that he ever becoming a top striker……. of course he wants to stay, but if RA buys a proper striker he will soon throw his toys out, if he on the bench, his ego won’t allow him to be substitute every game.

05 Jun 2025 09:31:11
If rasmus wants to stay he will. Just like Harry did or sancho or rashford they will go djemba suits them if not they will stay and hold the club to their contract.

05 Jun 2025 10:07:57
What's the obsession with Rasmus having an ego and throwing his toys out? He may not be good enough but he's done nothing but acted like a pro, kept to himself and knuckled down and got on with it.

05 Jun 2025 13:34:10
Rasmus seems a decent sort spenno. I don't buy into that at all. Rumours that he wants to go back to Italy. I'd loan him if we can't get a decent price.

05 Jun 2025 14:57:46
Ken, I do worry that due to wages and a few contract lengths we are going to be lumbered with a few players many want to see gone or be limited to loans which will inhibit us bring in some spending money. The likes of Rash/ Sancho/ Shaw aren't going to drop 100k a week.
