I know folk will shoot this down but the person we need up top is Mason Greenwood.

There are going to be the usual objections, but in terms of what we need, he is it.

The way the club managed that whole debacle was so bad.

Opinions on the matter set aside, is there a way in which he can come back and save the club!

{Ed025's Note - lets hope not Jimbo, why would you want a wife beating scumbag like him back at the club FFS?, dont you think you have enough misfits and deviants at the club without adding more?, i have heard some stupid ideas on this site but this one takes the biscuit, maybe get a couple of statues of Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris while you are at it...lay off the drugs mate..

Agree4 Disagree9

Ed025, I’m resigned to the fact that a minority of supporters will keep banging on about him until they die. Not only are they completely willing to ignore his actions off the pitch, they think he’s the greatest player in the world.

{Ed025's Note - i just dont get it Danny, there is more to life than your team being successful mate, there are morals and standards and being a good person and that piece of trash fails on the lot of them, he was a half decent forward who thought he was better than he actually was for me..

I get people's sentiments on why not to bring him back, I honestly do, and I've documented so on this site.
However, I said put that aside. People do deserve to get second chances. But I understand the world we live in and the video was very bad.
There is no denying his talent though and he would bang the goals in for us, but you're right, maybe Obi replaces him longer term.
Time to move on from it, I take your points ?.

horrible little man.

30 May 2025 23:17:33
This is one of the biggest misconceptions in modern society.

People do not DESERVE a second chance. You don't just get a free pass to do something horrific once as long as you don't do it again.

You can EARN a second chance by owning up to your mistake, apologising for it, and trying to make amends.

But you don't just get it as a given.

Has Greenwood done that Shappy? Maybe not in public, but I am positive he has made such apologies and earned a second chance with his partner.

I guess this is the point. If his partner is capable of forgiving him, why not the general public of the UK. It is only people in the UK that have an issue.

31 May 2025 00:11:17
You all need to come off your cross and stop the hate. IF Cantona had of kicked a woman at palace all would of been forgiven and 25 years ago SM was not available like it is today. We are not Angels and if the lord can forgive then so should we. I mean GB was quite Handy why not remove his statue too.

Jimbo, he got a second chance.

With Greenwood, for the club, it's about optics, simple as that.

The fallout from the incident was met with immense public furore and that presented the club with a decision of commercial flavour to make - keep a wrongun and risk the prospect of revenue loss or get what you can for him and save some face.

For us fans, there's certainly a split. I'm not going to preach or judge anyone on their opinions regarding Greenwood because I don't consider my mind to be the benchmark of integrity, but it is my personal opinion that he almost certainly did wrong and that 'Sorry' isn't always enough.

As a player, for the club, of course he'd be great were it not for his actions, but the bigger picture carries far more weight and should always be the determining force with this type of situation.

Great player, still a wrongun.

31 May 2025 02:13:28
Well said Red Devil.
Noucamp, so he is forgiven, great

I assume if we are unwilling to forgive, then we would all be happy to donate the sell on fee to a noteworthy charity? It wouldn't be fair that our club profited off this terrible human being.

The consensus appears to be mixed, as expected.

Bottom line, greenwood did what he did and is living with the consequences. His second chance is playing overseas where the press will mostly leave him alone and he can build his new life.

Coming back to uk is very unlikely, he himself would probably not want to. And if he does, after spending a season here he would probably want to go back overseas.

No way should he come back to us, and I would be stunned if another uk club takes him either.

31 May 2025 04:28:19
Didn't he also have a bit of a falling out with De Zerbi at Marseille because he wasn,t putting in enough effort or something like that? he was a good prospect for you guys back then but that time has since long passed, dont think he should be what you,re looking to if you want the rebuild the squad with hardworking players who would give their all.

Strange how people close their eyes to anything if it suits them and in this case there club and the red tints!
Just further shows what 2025 mentality brings, no principles no morels, just like Greenwood’s wife/ girlfriend, sold her soul for the money and a nice lifestyle, so puts up with whatever else… Witney had a great song, you can’t take my dignity! But clearly £££s took over in this case!

Yes he scores goals, but I would never want to be associated with him, if he scores 100 goals a season, but guess some would because it suits them, maybe if it was there daughter they may have different opinion, but maybe £££s would even change that view for them…. sad very sad….

31 May 2025 06:44:50
Jeez, but this whole Greenwood thing has been done to death. It is what it is. Move on!

31 May 2025 11:04:00
Jimbob, maybe Greenwood has done that in private, and maybe that is how he has earned his second chance with those people.

The issue is that if he was representing Manchester United, he does so publicly, and the general public haven't seen anything from him to suggest he admits wrongdoing, has apologised for it, and is doing what he can to make amends. If he hasn't done that publicly then why would the public give him a second chance.

As for your assertion that only the UK care about what he has done, I can assure you that you are mistaken. Other clubs from the continent did explore signing him, but most decided not to follow through due to fan unrest and the negativity that surrounded his potential signing.

One city signed a petition to the mayor of the city to block his potential move to their club.

The difference between main land Europe and the UK is that the press in the UK are far more intrusive and are relentless in hounding their targets.

It makes little sense for Greenwood to ever return to play in the UK. The hatred he would get in the press and at away grounds would be horrific, and it wouldn't just stop with him. The press would be after his partner and child, wanting to get a sound bite, looking for a story or a new angle. I can't imagine he'd want to put them through that.

He has got a second chance, he's still a professional footballer and he also avoided going to court and a possible prison sentence if found guilty. He is able to continue his career, earn huge sums of money and get all the privileges that come with being a professional footballer. The consequences of his actions is that he cannot do that at Manchester United and probably not in the UK.

While it's just an opinion, my view is he got off pretty lightly all things considered.

He's now a part of our history and it's best left in the past. We move on and we find or make new stars and we cheer them on and hopefully they carry us to glory.

31 May 2025 12:21:02
The press are just as bad in Spain, Italy and Germany, not sure where you get the idea that it’s only U. K. press or they just pick on united.

Greenwood burnt his bridges, end of move on….
