£100m for Fernandes?
I'd be all over that because the RA system would be easier to implement without a player who, whilst immensely talented, is too much of a luxury player who lacks the positional discipline to get the system clicking. He'll also turn 31 soon so £100m seems fair to me for a talismanic operator at this stage of his career. Al Hilal's hand should be chewed to the bone.
Now, if we did do this deal, we could have a really decent wad for this summer's rebuild.
£100m to start with.
£100m from the sale of Fernandes.
£50m from the sale of Garnacho.
£40m? from the sale of Rashford.
Irrespective of what happens with Antony and Sancho, that's £290m.
£62.5 on Cunha.
£55m (ish) on Mbeumo or Dibling.
£33.5m+Hojlund on Osimhen.
Keep Amad at RWB.
Let Mainoo own the No8 position.
Buy a new dominant CB.
We might even have some pennies left for a GK and/ or DM.
Don't get me wrong, I love the gifts that Fernandes brings to our team, I really do, but that amount of money for a near 31yo luxury player who is not quite suited to the system sounds, to me, like a properly good idea.
What say yous, keep or sell?
30 May 2025 16:57:17
? all over it.
I support a football club, not a financial institution. We are on our knees and the the only world class performer we have, fans want to sell.
Why? So we can get 80-100m (who knows how much goes into transfers)
The club, in recent years, has a shocking track record of actually signing or developing talent yet some want to get rid of our biggest talent. We are manchester united, not Brighton selling on our biggest talents for money.
Make it make sense.

I got my ear chewed off for daring to suggest that if we sell x players for a total of £x, then we have the same amount for sale (apparently not! ) . But of course it raises the kitty to go on a bit of a spree.
I agree Fernandes lacks positional discipline, and this would be a concern in the event we sign 2 new no.10s as he'd play more and more in CM where the freedom afforded to the more attacking players doesn't exist.
I'd say I'd reluctantly sell, simply as a fee anywhere near those figures is too tempting for a player past his peak in a side that won't be challenging for anything major any time soon.
A big worry is that those are big boots to fill, for an ever-present player who is pretty much one of our only creative players. Maybe the cash could be put towards a good no.10 and CM of some ilk rather than one luxury outlay.

He's 30 ork and he is definitely not a "luxury" player. My god.
30 May 2025 17:09:16
Sorry, Ork. If your best player, who scores the most goals and contributes the most assists, is considered a 'luxury player', it's time for me to go home.
30 May 2025 18:02:25
31 is nothing in this day and age, he could easily play till he’s 35 plus. is never injured.
And he’s our best player by a country mile, although the money is very tempting you would have to be sure the players you bring in replace his output.
But then again if you get an offer of 100 million are you going to turn it down? If we are rebuilding and its takes 3/ 5 years before anything significant is he going to be around to contribute
He could decline but he could just be entering his prime and with a few signings and better players around him do even better
Hard one, wouldn’t be judge him leaving and wouldn’t slag the club off for selling him
It is what it is, players come and go.
30 May 2025 19:03:32
angelred, we’ve just finished 7 places and 19 points behind Brighton.
We need a massive overhaul of this squad. Bruno for all his talent is worth selling if we get £100m for him.
30 May 2025 19:05:09
Cash him in now or we will end up with another Casemiro, 34 year old midfielder with high wages and no legs.
30 May 2025 19:12:25
Come on its £100m and he was our best player last year but its like being the best juggler in a room of limbless people.
8 premier league goals and takes penalties, that is very much replaceable lol.
30 May 2025 19:52:22
Okay DSG, what about the 19 assists? Or shall we dive into his stats in previous seasons.
2toms. How much of that goes toward transfers and who do we replace him with that guarantees his numbers?
I mean, this club in recent years has a fantastic history of buying and nurturing quality players ?.
30 May 2025 20:03:57
Bruno deserves better than to be in a relegation fight.
30 May 2025 20:25:33
Premier League Goals and Assists:
Season 1 = 18 and 12
Season 2 = 10 and 6
Season 3 = 8 and 8
Season 4 = 10 and 8
Season 5= 8 and 10
These are stats that are “irreplaceable” with £100m lol, half of those goals are probably penalties for goodness sake.
Also you have to assume he will not get any better at 30+ years of age.
30 May 2025 20:47:39
These are the posts that make me miss Ed002, and their ‘don’t talk about money because you don’t understand it’ posts.
£100m for a player does not equal £100m straight in the club’s coffers that it can immediately spend. It certainly doesn’t work that way for FA finance rules.
Not that it wouldn’t be worth considering a big bid for him, just that selling Bruno wouldn’t significantly increase the club’s spending power in the summer.
It’s selling academy lads like Rashford and Garnacho that allows the club to spend immediately.
30 May 2025 21:08:16
Because bruno has been here for so long now, selling him this summer would equal £100 in profit.
Its not like selling De Ligt this summer who has only been here a year.
A good point you make Danny, just not the right example with Bruno.
30 May 2025 21:11:57
Danny I understand in Bruno's case almost all would be available from other posters information.,
30 May 2025 22:12:52
I think a lot of people are forgetting who we are owned by. I would not sell bruno for 100m right now more to the fact I do NOT trust it to be invested into the team.
Imagine selling bruno for 100m and we don’t buy a midfielder and say mount is his replacement?
The club need to bring players in first.
30 May 2025 22:22:55
Dsg you've made me laugh today with these stats. And the fact 100m will replace him ?
62 goals, 20 penalties and 51 assists in his time at that has been poor for united.
But sure, 100m, how much of that goes to transfers? And who replaces those numbers, please do tell DSG ?.
31 May 2025 05:00:47
Is he not got one of the highest goals and assist records of any midfielder throughout the EU whilst playing in a crap team and some are thinking we can replace that with a mere 100 million, who is that player that replaces that for less then 100 million?
Would the 100 million even go on replacements, I seem to remember Spurs doing the same with Bale, how did that work out!
You don’t get rid of the best and only world class player we have in the squad…. Jesus 100 million that would get us an Antony and Garnacho!
31 May 2025 07:36:40
The only way I’d take it is if we were guaranteed to have Baleba, Wharton, Mbuemo and Gyokeres in our squad as a result of the Bruno, Rashford, Antony, Garnacho and Sancho money.
But what we’d undoubtedly do is spunk the cash on two ‘potential’ wonder kids from Portugal. Not the way to go.
31 May 2025 09:32:47
Danny perhaps you should have taken the advice of ed002 and steer clear of finances.
Every penny of the bruno fee after associated costs goes into the clubs coffers as you call it.
