Looks like we should know what's happening with Bruno by the end of the week. what do we think? Stay or go? I have a sneaky suspicion he might leave and I honestly won't begrudge him it if he does. The kind of money on offer is multi generational wealth!

There are plenty of reasons to sell that I'm sure will crop up a lot below - age, very good transfer fee, remaining questionmarks over leadership/ character etc. It looks like the manager has been told there's a £100m budget and the rest has to be made up by sales, so there's a sizeable amount that can be raised, maybe towards £250m, by selling players.
I think the manager wants him to stay and I don't think Bruno will want to leave with there being a World Cup next year. He's already up against it getting into the Portugal team and will want to stay in the headlights of the Premier League.
It would be nice to have that nice wad of cash to play with, but the side is already devoid of strong characters who can do something out of the ordinary. I think he'll choose to stay if he's given the option.

If we were in the champions league, would keep as he is the only attacking player of that calibre in the squad.

But with no champions league and the need for incoming funds to bring in new players, i think the club has no choice to sell if a massive offer comes in.

Also don't think he is a natural fit for this system in a midfield two, he will never be disciplined enough defensively or passing wise to be a success there and probably need quicker players in the front three.

With Bruno leaving, would we not need another player in? It makes no sense to sell Bruno as the replacement needed would be of similar value.

No for me. We should build with him, not without.

Money coming in does not guarantee replacing a player of his quality and IMO given our track record, it's a massive risk to take.

If Ruben has 100m and with sales can get in another 150m, surely we can buy 5/ 6 players of quality to improve the team drastically.

We let McT go and look what he's done and he wasn't someone anywhere near the same quality.

Build with Bruno, not without.

As for what will happen, who knows. I'm slightly leaning towards it being better for him to leave than stay.

Firstly, I don't think he's quite a natural fit for Amorim's system.

Secondly, he will be 31 by the start of next season and will start to decline at some point. He's also played a lot of football and that tends to catch up with players in the end. I don't think you can afford to build the team around him.

Thirdly, we are over reliant on him, and it's hard for others to step up and to spread the load while he's still in the first team.

Finally, the money we could receive from him helps us sign 2 or 3 new players to rebuild the squad as a whole.

I'll be sad to see him go, and even a little apprehensive. But it might be in our best interests to move him on now. I always think what would SAF do in this situation, and he showed time and again that he wasn't sentimental and would move a player on as they got older and couldn't contribute to the same level as before.

I also wonder where does he fit when we are signing Cunha, as well as pushing for Mbeumo. That surely forces Bruno back into midfield, especially with Amad, Mainoo and Mount all likely to play minutes in the inside forward positions. Yet we want to sign a midfielder as well.

The signs point to us bringing in the players to usher Bruno out of the team.

Completely agree Shappy, sad to see him go but we are not getting another opportunity at that kind of money. If it's true and we get 100 mill plus, and manage to sell Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho we can achieve a far greater rebuild that would have taken multiple windows otherwise.

It's up to him if he wants to stay he will.
Not sure he gets into the Portugal team for the wc. I think he will get into the squad playing from Saudi anyhow.
He has a decision to make. If the club accept a bid he does not have to go. It's all up to him.
77m a year is the offer reported net. It's hard to turn that down at his age. I think if it was Madrid he'd be packing his bags. Maybe one of the big clubs in Europe will come in for him but I think most dof would baulk at paying 100m for a 31-year-old.
It's up to bruno. Will he stay or go?

I want him to stay but I just get the feeling that he’s going to leave…won’t hold it against him no matter what he decides.

27 May 2025 19:43:33
Sell definitely. If we’re starting this rebuild under Amorim then he can go. He can’t play in a 2 and is too much of a luxury player. I’ve said it before on here but he is similar to Ozil towards the end of his arsenal career. No doubting their quality but we need more structured players.
If we can get anywhere near the reported fee then surely he has to go.

For me, to rebuild this squad, we need to see the back of the likes of Sancho, Rashford, Shaw, Maguire and Lindelof (obviously he’s gone) .
They have all had their day being a United player and we need to replace with new hungry players. Whether that’s youth or new signings.

27 May 2025 19:57:26
He’s 100% staying.

27 May 2025 21:01:33
If he was leaving I think he takes that penalty last game.

27 May 2025 22:56:52
I think he's a fantastic player, but I also get frustrated for him. When the going gets tough, he loses his head. THAT isn't a leader. I also think he's too much for these of the team to function as a unit. As others say, he isn't disciplined and he doesn't coach and lead either there's no example settings there's simply taking sole actions.

For me, £100m and i'd be getting in new blood such as Bellongham and saying, hey. We sold our captain to give you the platform, along with Adam Wharton pr Ederson. And checking or Joao Gomes. Thisnis a sliding doors moment for United and I think in Fergies time ot would be calling time on him for a true rebuild without histrionics when the forst time we are under pressure next season there's no one titting and windmilling theor arms instead of taking actions and upping their own game.

27 May 2025 23:30:49
'Too much of a luxury player'?

He's the only top class player we've got, and he's carried us for years.

I'd hate to think where we'd have been without him.
