Genuine question from a Liverpool supporter: for the people who want to stick with Amorim, after his comments that he would walk without a handout, why do you think he should stay? Don’t you see this as an admission that maybe the job is bigger than he thought and that maybe he doesn’t see solutions anymore?

Agree3 Disagree0

I don’t think anybody knows the best way forward right now!

Far from it. He's self assured. He has taken decisions such as loaning out Rashford and Antony without replacement to build for next year. The squad he took on is woefully constructed and struggled for goals before loaning out two forwards. He needs to be backed. There is no point in changing again, especially when he's playing with only half a deck.

He also said he believes in his ability and thinks he is the man for the job.

Pep has said if city don’t trim his squad he’s quitting should they tell him to do one?

But think we all know the job is massive prob why he didn’t want to come till the summer but he’s needs help from everyone because there is a lot of trash that needs binning.

A scouser ta) king sense, who'd have thought?

A rare moment of lucidity I can assure you AJH. To be honest I don’t feel any animosity against your team, a little bit of schadenfreude obviously yes, but I quite like the historical big teams fighting it out against each other, I’m not too big on the nouveau riches.

Amorim for me is comfortable in his skin, says things as he sees them and believes in his methods and accepts that they may take time.

He also knows that he will get another job elsewhere if the club move on and is comfortable with that, has had success and believes he will again.

Time will tell but he told us the end of season would be best to move in, he has been proved right. He also probably realises now the job and clear out is bigger than he originally thought and that is okay.

@Bolger, I would argue that pep has won, legitimately or not, quite a lot of trophies for your noisy neighbours, so maybe that could give him some more leverage over that club.

I am with Brad, if you believe in yourself and are sufficiently financially stable, know you will get another role then there is a level of comfort you can be very straight with where you are, what you think and are not afraid to say it. You have the inner comfort of knowing you can walk away if it doesn’t suit you. Money, salary is a hygiene factor not a motivator.

As to why he might want to stay. He believes in his expertise, special expertise and I don’t believe he thinks this is too big for him. He believes in his experience and is now saying back me now. He doesn’t want to get to October and have what they did to ETH happen. Let’s have it clear now, we are in fully or not. I understand that and change management, of which this is an extreme example, demands that unwavering support or it won’t work.

I am in no way advocating the departure of Ruben, far from it. I think that perhaps he is the man to make the change we desire.

But just playing devils advocate as a balance.

These are professional football players. I don’t hold too much credence to the fact that they cannot play a system. Yes I agree that they may not be suited to it, but they should be able to conform to it even to a lower standard to players natural to that position.

Similarly Ruben has been in the position for long enough that we should be able to see a semblance of what he is trying to achieve. As yet I have not seen any marked change that indicates that he is fully instilling his wishes on the players. Other than his hard stance on players (which is admirable) there has not been a lot to suggest he can progress beyond this season. Even one coat of white paint on a black wall makes it lighter, even if the s*** still shows through!

However I go along with the sentiment of give him some players that are ready made for his style and see how he goes. Hell, 6 more months of this rubbish will not really matter anyway.

If Amorim had said, for the rest of the season we play 442 until I get the players I want, does anyone think the results would have improved?

I don’t think the problem is the talent of the players, I think the real issue is the lack of confidence. We have seen it time again they panic easily, make rash decisions, miss chances they should score and then some are just selfish and don’t know how to play as part of a team.

I thought that at the very least Amorim could build them to play as a team, but they seem more like a bunch of individuals than ever, which is my biggest worry.

Amorim will know that the clock is definitely ticking and he needs to turn this around quickly at the beginning of the season. I think Garnacho is gone, Cunha will replace him, hopefully Delap hasn’t been put off after his visit on Monday and still decides this a decent next step in his career, Hojlund should be moved on if we can, maybe back to Atalanta if it is true and we want Ederson a deal can be done.

A front three of Cunha, Delap and Amad cannot be any worse than what we currently have, with Bruno and Ederson the midfield.

Lots of rumours about Bruno and Saudi, but would much rather we moved Mason on.

Hopefully, now money is tight we start to see bigger use of the academy team, there are some decent players there.

Thanks for the conversation lads, I’d wish you good luck for the rest of the season, but you know….
