Re: Garnacho

Out of players under 21, only Lamine Yamal and Desire Doue have more goal contributions this season in Europe's top leagues.

He's adapting to the new manager's style. He's still very aggressive in his running and directness but he's also become more of a team player creating opportunities for others. He's getting fouled a lot which means the other team is wary of his ability. His speed is often uncontrolled resulting in his final action being rushed and inaccurate. If Amorim can coach this out, and give him the confidence to relax into his obvious ability, then I think he could become a very good player for us in the next few years. He and Amad could both be critical to a much needed increase in our goal scoring tally.

Those two players you mention are far far more dangerous than Garnacho is, they look like doing something everting they got the ball especially Yamal, Garnacho can’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as Yamal, that’s for sure.

08 May 2025 16:31:28
Yes he can German, read that first sentence again. A completely legitimate sentence.

08 May 2025 16:38:12
He just was. In the top 3 goal contributors under 21 category across all major leagues.

08 May 2025 16:44:12
Like Antony, if Garnacho was playing in another league and with better players around him he would have more time and be more successful. IF he capitalizes on his chances, and continues to improve his final ball, we will be talking about him in the same breath. He'll be contributing to 20-30 a season.

08 May 2025 16:52:03
I think Garnacho has impressed Amorim with his hard work and it appears like he is developing more into the role he wants. Whether that is enough and Amorim sees a future for him only he knows. It is possible he does not rate him and getting £40/ 50m for him will be seen as good business and we can get an upgrade in.

Another aspect may be where Amorim sees Mainoo (and potentially how much he rates him) . Is he best in the number 10 role, does that make Garnacho more disposable, what does that mean for Mount (lots will say get rid but if fit Amorim seems to like him)

Some of it will come down to finances, if we have enough money to bring players in (we will hopefully be bringing in close to £100m from Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Malacia) then maybe we see what Garnacho can do for another year. If we need money then he is an easily sold asset.

Aside from all of this, what does he want to do. Does he even want to play in the inside forward position or does he want to play as a winger in a 433 by which point he may be pushing for a move and the decision is taken a bit out of the clubs hands.

On the comparisons, he is currently miles off but that does not mean he can not springboard next year.

08 May 2025 17:14:00
Not a cat in hells chance that Garnacho is anywhere near Yamal, and if anyone thinks he is you seriously need Specsavers and urgently, just take of the red specs they are seriously deceiving you
Plus if your saying oh Garnacho only 21 he will develop well Yamal is 17 and so will he…. and Yamal was tearing grown men apart for Spain at 16.

Anyone who thinks Garnacho is in same league must be using same opticians as Arteta.

08 May 2025 18:02:36
Slightly misleading that. Garno scoring record is poor this season also yamal put in about 20 deadly crosses in that last game we’ve not seen that many all season from Garnacho. he's missed loads of opportunities to create and seems to go out of his way to not create for our striker. Liam Delap has more than both according to TikTok….

08 May 2025 18:08:15
Good post Shaw. He's clearly a very good player. His goals and contributions in a very poor united team really stand out. Like you said, with better players around him or even a better performing team as a whole and he can contribute even more.

08 May 2025 18:46:29
German. Why can’t they both be mentioned in the same sentence? You just mentioned them both in the same sentence ???.

08 May 2025 19:59:20
Garnacho is still young and has a lot of potential to develop ahead of him, which he will need if he is to reach the top.

For me the problem with him is that he is a player who plays on instinct more than thought, and I think he is trying too hard to be like his idol (Ronaldo) and he just isn't the same kind of player. For a start he doesn't have Ronaldo's physicality, his speed or his ability in the air. Yet he wants to try and get the ball wide and cut in and shoot every single time. Which wouldn't be a problem if he was actually good at shooting. But a quick look at his stats highlights a player who should be looking to create chances not finish them.

While he is in the 98th percentile for shots taken, he is in the 26th percentile for goals scored. Which makes sense when you realise that he only gets 32% of his shots on target which puts him in the 23rd percentile across Europe's top five leagues.

He just isn't a natural finisher, probably because he plays on instinct which leads his to often snatch at shots or take shots from poor positions because he sees sight of the goal.

I've always said that I feel he plays better on the right than the left as it forces him to pass more and think about what he is going to do. He plays more with his head up.

He's got that knack of getting into good positions and instigating attacks, but he needs to learn to keep his head up and look to play others in to better shooting positions far more.

I saw a stat the other day that Garnacho actually starts more attacks in our team than Bruno. The difference is his attacks often go nowhere due to poor decisions he makes. Either running down a blind alley and losing the ball, shooting off target from distance or from a tight angle, or just holding on to the ball for too long allowing the opposition to get back in shape.

I'm on the fence with him as to whether he will develop that side of his game to the degree needed for him to ultimately be a success here.

He has the talent in his feet, it's whether he has what is needed between his ears. There is no place in Amorim's team for a knock-off Temu Ronaldo wannabe. If that is the player Garnacho is determined to be then he won't make it. If he listens to the manager/ coaches and commits to developing into being the best Garnacho then he has every chance.

I'd be sad if he left, but I'd also understand it.

Aot are fixated on the Garnacho of old. Look at the Garnacho of now, he has changed, for the better.
He must stay.
At this point, if I had to choose between Garnacho and Amad being sold, it would be the latter.

08 May 2025 20:59:23
Blimey. Think Amad is literally the last player I’d sell at this club.

08 May 2025 22:59:32
Wow jimbob that's ludicrous imo. Garnacho is definitely not in the must stay category.
Really good potential and a good player but no player is a must stay least of all him.

08 May 2025 23:22:30
I don't think either should be Spenno.
In another year, see where everyone is, that's my opinion, aside from the obvious deadwood, which neither Garnacho or Amad fall into. Also Mainoo. I can't believe any of those names are being mooted for sale even. But that is the discussion.

09 May 2025 00:42:47
If you all want to sell Amad, can you send him our way? I'd love for him to deputies and eventually replace Salah ;)

But jokes aside, I think Garnacho has impressed me in recent games. His head has deflated and he has gone back to that hardworking player he used to be before his ego got the better of him. If he continues this way, I can see him growing into a great player.

09 May 2025 07:20:48
Garnacho looked great tonight didn’t he! Such a poor finisher, hopefully he is sold along with Ugarte, no surprise the team got much better when Ugarte out of midfield, and how much difference Amad made, he done more in 2 mins then Garnacho did in 60 mins, Cas looks much better with another beside him, Ugarte just not got the legs the mobility or the passing, I’m actually not sure what he even brings to the team….

09 May 2025 07:51:28
100% sell Garnacho
100% sell Rasmus
100% sell Ugarte
100% sell Antony
100% sell Rashford
100% sell Martinez
100% sell Deligt
100% sell Onana

No loans just get rid, and replace this lot with proper players, Amad done more in 2 mins then Garnacho in 60
Cas looks much better without Ugarte next to him
Rasmus, championship striker at best in U. K.
Martinez and Deligt too many injuries and not that great anyway

Mainoo replace if good offer comes in, or just keep as squad player, but he clearly thinks he is a starter so may need to be sold.

09 May 2025 10:18:53
I haven't been Garnacho's biggest fan German but I can see improvement and maturity from him under Amorim. I can also see that last night along with others he looked really tired. He plays nearly every gameand gives his all. He is never injured and is 21 in a struggling team that every single action is examined by the media. It's easy to be critical but you must also give credit at times.

09 May 2025 11:00:56
German this summer we can't sell martinez he is injured and won't complete any medical.
Ugarte is in his 1st season and warrants a squad place next season imo. He has improved as the season has gone on. He is limited in his passing but has other good attributes. I think we need 2 new midfielder in there who can start and then have ugarte and collyer to compliment them.
The rest of your list i'd agree with.

09 May 2025 11:09:20
Guess someone's been playing Football Manager again :D
Ugarte going nowhere so soon after joining and I reckon de Ligt is a likely captain if Fernandes goes.

09 May 2025 12:30:24
Yawn, Ugarte has been superb in bigger games, he's got character too, same as De Ligt. We need characters and leaders in this team of few leaders. Some people have no idea what makes a "team". I wonder how well Yamal would do in the premier league right now? Yes he would be good but he wouldn't get special treatment and it is more physical. And Yamal has great technical players around him. Very clever in that when he plays a pass or shoots he falls over like Bernardo Silva, Diaz and the rest so that he gets a freekick if the pass or shot doesn't come off.

09 May 2025 12:50:11
Never heard a more delusional fan than German. Wants rid of ugarte martinez and de ligt ?.

09 May 2025 15:03:37
Why not what one of them is any good then….
Deligt been injured most of his career, when he does play, slow and ponderous
Martinez another injured more then he plays and also a liability
Ugarte can’t pass a ball 10 yards, not mobile or got the legs and RA don’t even fancy him

So all 3 a waste of time, not sure why that’s delusional, if you want these 3 players in the team, then your clearly happy being in bottom half of table!

09 May 2025 16:28:02
German "RA don't even fancy him"? But starts him in big games? When did you last speak to RA for his opinion? Ugarte can pass, players can have poor games in possession and that's why sometimes they get subbed off. De Ligt would have started if he were fit. He puts his body on the line for the team. He just needs rhythm, your more likely to get injured when you've just come back from an injury. It's conditioning. I'm convinced you are just a troll or you actually just support somone else and you've got too much time on your hands.
You could be Onethirddingle too?

09 May 2025 17:38:50
De Ligt is quality IMO. Ugarye I'm not yet convinced of but I'd be happy for him to have another season.

Garnacho has shown signs of improvement but just needs to. improve his shooting. He also needs to be played on the right. I'd give him another season.

10 May 2025 05:29:27
If Yamal played for United and had a bad game he would suddenly be the worst player ever and would be labelled deadwood.

10 May 2025 07:25:30
I can’t see the Deligt quality bit, he been injured most of his career, he is slow and ponderous and hence why we are looking for a new CB…
Ugarte is woeful in my opinion.
Garnacho needs cashing in on, just not suited to what RA is trying to build, plus you got to take your chances or at least hit the target, he don’t.

10 May 2025 13:17:38
RA doesn't rate Ugarte but plays him whenever he's fit. I've figured out who Germansuppclub is guys.

It's Eni Aluko. Talks as much nonsense.

10 May 2025 13:22:39
What's your opinion on Ugarte, German?
