Interesting to read all your opinions about why the team is failing. The commonest thread is the lack of quality and poor recruitment of the past. That cannot be a fault laod at the current managers door.
For whatever reason he wasn't able to sign the players he wants and needs in sufficient quantity in the last window. He really deserves at least the opportunity to get his own players in and have a year with them befpe being judged.

Liverpool fan here.
That's fair enough Salford Amorim doesn't have the squad he needs to play the way he wants. but how much time do you give him? It's unlikely but if you did lose against Everton and Ipswich relegation is a real threat.
I appreciate he wants to play his way and injuries haven't helped, but he needs to pick up some points and the current set up just doesn't seem to be working for this group at all.

That's just way too much common sense. let's keep doing what we have been doing and lose some more. Philosophy over results.
18 Feb 2025 08:54:26
We did not deserve to lose against Spurs. Injuries cost us. And poor finishing. Garnacho’s miss was appalling. Martinez, Mainoo, Ugarte, Amad would have made a difference. Relegation will not happen.

Agree with Bmena red. Yes it mainly the players and he hasn’t had any signings but there comes a point where you have to change something, especially if things continue as they are. For all the bravado that we won’t go down, the facts are it’s a real possibility and if we continue to lose and fall closer to the relegation zone the club have a decision to make. Get rid or keep doing the same things and go down. Call it short term thinking but reality is we cannot afford the drop it would make a terrible financial situation even worse. Philosophy is all well and good but right now RA philosophy is taking us to the championship. I don’t want him sacked, I want him to get to the summer and get the squad shaped how he wants, however if we are under threat of relegation then all of that goes out the window. Harsh but true.

Jap Stam was right about them.

I don't think the players are as bad as everyone thinks. Look at Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth, all doing well. There is something deeply wrong within our club and that is translating onto the pitch.
Years of amateurish mismanagement, bow compounded by SJR and his cuts.
Jose, Ole, and ETH all. had 1 very solid season, and then all fell. off a cliff. Someone explain that to me.
Martial Antony, and Scott all doing really well now they have left, someone explain that to me.
I have no answers.
18 Feb 2025 11:14:26
Ajh you should probably leave Martial out of this one. It's the Greek league you plum.
18 Feb 2025 11:58:24
Ajh it’s like the club is a giant black hole, sucking the life out of everything that enters. That’s how it feels anyway. Players, managers, coaches all with the same outcome. Maybe somebody cursed us ?♂️?.

That's the first time we have had an injury crisis. This season compared to last has been a cake walk so let's not find an excuse as people said last year when we really had an injury crisis. spurs have their own injury issues too.
I understand going through a change and honest to god I give RA an A+ for his ability to talk and want him to succeed. However, I am getting more convinced game after game he is not going to make it no matter how charming, honest and convincing he is in his interviews. I think we are in more quiet a few very embarrassing results and Tonking.
I did not watch the second half at spurs as the first half was all I could stomach.
18 Feb 2025 12:16:14
What is the point in getting him in to try and suit the players that have failed in multiple systems previously
How great did we do playing 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 wake up and realise there is limits to what some of these players can do.
18 Feb 2025 12:55:23
People banging on about systems is just stupid, I have said for 3 years the players are not good enough and the ones added in last 3 years are worse then what we had
Ok de gea was on decline, but still better than this clown
Deligt is a cart horse no better than McGuire
Strikers well they are not worthy of the name
Yoro I’m hoping but honestly see nothing yet to convince me
Ugarte runs about, but slowly and passing poor, So did Fred do same but with more energy
Mainoo stagnant and not got legs anyway
Garnacho woeful finisher
It’s all come home to roost at once, so let’s not look for excuses blaming systems, no system in the world will make any of our strikers strikers, no system will make Garnacho score when he clean through…. they just not good enough…end off.

German, I don't think our players are quite as bad as many people make out.
I think for many reasons they struggle to play at their best for us.
For some it's the pressure, for others the system or style of play doesn't suit them or get the best out of them, others have issues off the pitch, while some just don't have the talent or mentality to be a top player at a top side.
The benefit of moving towards having a clear style of play, a system, is that it's repeatable and consistent. Given the demands of elite football now very few sides are successful without having a system that they play. Gone are the days where you could win the league with 78 points, typically you need 88-90 points to have a chance of winning the league now. To get that kind of consistency you need a clear system for your team.
The other option is to build around a few key individuals, to try and get the best out of your most talented players. We've seen previous managers try this (often after failing to get the team to play their system) . We've had sides built around, Zlatan, Ronaldo, Rashford and Bruno in recent years. Liverpool did the same for many years with Gerrard.
The problem with building around a couple of key players is that your performance as a team is entirely dependent on the form of one or two players.
If we want to be successful again then we need to stop trying to just buy great individual players and trying to crowbar them into the side, build around the one or two that manage to cobble together some kind of form and hope that they can carry us to titles.
We need to move toward having a clear style, a repeatable system that we can play and perform at a similar level regardless of who starts each game. Then we might see the kind of consistency in performances that is needed to sustain a serious title challenge.
The problem with this squad isn't entirely a lack of talent, but many of them just aren't capable or suitable to play the system the manager wants (they were also unable to play previous managers systems as well) .
The issue we have to get through is that the problem with having a clear system is that the team performance relies on everyone in the system doing their job/ role within it. If they don't then it leaves holes in the team for the opposition to exploit.
I'm confident that we will see a much better team and performances at the start of next season after we've managed to both mould the squad to be more suitable for what Amorim wants, as well as them having a full pre-season to fully get to grips with the system.

The players sre bad TH destroyed UTD surely won't make the same mistake with this flavor of the month hipster manager giving him hundreds of millions to waste on players for a system that probably won't work in a tough league like England never learn UTD Southgate wouldve been a better appointment but not sexy enough for UTD fans needs a foreign name.

Ahmad I’m not looking for excuses. Those players missing would definitely have made a difference. We created chances but poor finishing again cost us. Spurs had players returning which helped them.
Neither of the two will get relegated. Both mid table.
Pleased with the lwb! Put a shift in and can cross a ball!
Still early days with Amorin. Is he responsible for the poor passing, poor finishing, poor thinking?
Jeez, the money spent .

No question having those injuries impacted us but its the first time he has had to deal with it. Up till now its been more a case of who plays and who is on the bench and no make shift line ups.
How is it Moyes, potter can walk into teams after Amorim, no pot of money at their disposal and can improve those teams and get results. Scapegoating players and labelling them all rubbish and feeling sorry for RA does not wash with me. He has been here long enough to expect some form of decent football and some decent results.
His insistence of playing a certain way is the chief reason for these kind of performances. Spurs give up lots of scoring chances to everyone so us creating a few chances is nothing to write home about. we look anemic against better set ups and the fan base loves to hate and scapegoat players. Pretty much everyone that leaves seems to do quite well and not as rubbish as people here make them out to be.
I don't buy the players are all rubbish and will be an outlier on that one. The set up does not work and we are getting worse not better. That is why I don't think he will be here long term even if we buy a bunch of new players in the summer. This is the worst football I have seen us play since Fergie and people can disagree but each to his own.
The stories about players questioning things is normal, if you were on the pitch and game after game experienced how we are playing, its normal to ask wt. are we doing. People will point their anger and hate players for it but its normal human behavior.

Shappy that post don’t make much sense firstly you say the players not as bad as we all seem to think, but then say they can’t play this system and can’t play the systems of previous managers either, I am not sure how on earth that don’t make them poor players your over complicating 1 ball with 11 men well sort of men in this team, you say we could do this or that then say these players can’t do this system nor that system from previous managers, so what can they actually do then!
You then say some players will have personal problems, some can’t handle pressure, some talented, some not talented etc etc, but that’s the exact same for every club in every league, yes different levels but still the same problems.
At end of day make excuses as much as you like, dress it up with stats and personal opinions but I don’t care what system you play if you have a clown in goal, slow ponderous CBs no midfield legs and strikers who can’t hit a barn door and your thinking that Mazaroui is of a good level you have absolutely no chance of winning much…….
