What’s everyone’s thoughts on potentially selling Garnacho to Chelsea? As I write this, his agent is in the stands at Stamford Bridge so there’s legs in this clearly.
Leaving Greenwood out of this for obvious reasons, but Garnacho is one of the best talents we’ve had in the last decade that’s come through Carrington. We’ve never been in a position where we’ve considered selling a talent like this. Pogba, perhaps the last one that we let go and that was on a free. You can agree/ disagree on whether or not he has what it takes to get to the very top but he is clearly talented and has a good habit of picking up important goals and assists. Considering how young he is and just how bad we have been over the period that he’s come in, it’s impressive overall. I don’t see how we look good coming out of a sale to Chelsea if it were to happen. The optics of it for INEOS would be poor. Perhaps Nkunku/ Felix in some sort of swap deal. They would be better suited as one of the 10’s. Think the deal would still stink.
{Ed001's Note - sorry but Garnacho is not that talented. He is a very average player with no team ethic.}

And I agree Ed. But he is still one of the best talents to come out of our academy in the last 10 years. Not sure what that says about the academy. Maybe we over hype the talents a bit. I just don’t remember being in a position where we would need to consider a sale in this manner. Not sure it’s a good look in general but that’s just my opinion.

It'd be a shame to see him go, as he has ability and potential, but everyone has a price, especially with how out finances are right now. He isn't the finished article, and he may never live up to the expectations/ potential. He also doesn't have a natural position in our current set up, meaning he'll have to adapt and develop his game if he is to be successful. Whether he wants to do that or whether he is capable of that remains to be seen.
Currently we have Amad and Bruno ahead of him in the inside forward positions. Mount I suspect would also be ahead of him if fit. I also think that is probably the best position for Mainoo long term. While players like Jack Fletcher and Amir Ibragimov are also great prospects in the academy.
So while he's talented he's probably currently 4th choice for one of those 2 starting spots, and unless he adapts his game he won't be able to push ahead of those in front of him and may even be over taken by the likes of Ibragimov (who looks like a potential worldie) in the next few years.
If he doesn't kick on then his value will also start to decrease as he plays less often.
I'm always loathed to see an academy player leave, but in truth selling good academy players is something we will need to start doing if we are to get back onto a decent financial footing. If we have a player who we can get a high fee for, who isn't a good fit for our first team then we'd be stupid not to at least consider it.

Ed001,
He also has a poor attitude aswell.

Agree Ed I’ve never rated him personally. I’d only sell though if the money is reinvested.

Everyone that tackles him, comes away the ball.

I think that’s the biggest shame out of all this. Having to let him go, as it just doesn’t feel very United. We’ve got to move with the times and the situation we’re in.

It depends on the price. £50m should do it, and even that's a gamble for Chelsea. He could end up being their next Mudryk. On the other hand he could thrive in the long term in a team that's stacked with capable players. Presumably he'd be vying with Sancho for that right wing spot. From our point of view I'd be well prepared to see us cash in and replace him with someone who can play Amorim's system. This season is effectively lost. I'd be surprised if we can win one of the cups given how poorly we play, even though this team does seem to raise itself for do or die games.
The big question is what happens to Rashford when no one comes in for him between now and February 3rd. Maybe he'll start playing again. Now personally I think it's about time one of the clubs sued a player for breach of contract when they effectively decide to quit playing. This would be the case in a normal job when an employee downs tools.

Sign an injured Mount for £50m, seen him once personally. Sell one of our few young creative players for the same? I say hang on for the season. If he pushes on and gains some form I’m sure we can get a lot more without rushing into it.

He is actually stat wise the worst in the league for dribbles success
At this point I don’t think anyone should be bothered about anyone of those players leaving they all deserve to leave after this season and last
They were saved by a cup win but for well over 18 months this team has been terrible
I don’t think we should be selling him cheap anyway 50 million in todays market is cheap imo regardless of how average he is, he has plenty of sell on value aswell given his age but he will never be a consistent performer he lacks the intelligence his football IQ is poor.

The ones that want change and to get back to winning ways then want to pick who they want to stay because they like him or think he can become good, if RA wants rid then get rid, Mainoo too if that’s what RA wants.
You can’t scream back the managers for years then when it comes to it, then back track, let’s be fair if either of these two were playing for another team, would we be pushing to buy them…. not a chance
Both are ok but not what we need by any means.
21 Jan 2025 04:59:10
for 60 million or there about's I would sell him. He clearly looks lost in Amorim's system and not really a possession based type winger and losses the ball far too often. I guess we can't have it both ways.
Rash, Antony and Malacia also look like they will go so it does look like we are clearing the deck. Still waiting on cas news but gone quite.
I would not be surprised to see a few other like Hoiland gone come summer either if he continues on current form. Its not a bad thing btw and sets the benchmark that you get a couple of years to either make it or gone.
I just hope we buy better going forward and are not back here again. The worst season in 30 years for me at united and have no expectations any more.

We backed the last manager to the tune of 600m! Have we improved? If we got 50m for him would you expect the club to use it wisely with our track record?
Id have tried to make the most of the interest in zirkzee there's less about him than there is garnacho. But ones pure profit and ones just another expensive mistake.
21 Jan 2025 08:35:23
His agent has been touting him around Europe all window. Seems clear to me he’s not happy he was dropped and not a nailed on starter under Amorim and now wants to go.
It doesn’t feel like United have shopped him around.
21 Jan 2025 12:26:12
we must be a buying someone if antony, rash and garnacho are going. we will be a very light up front.
21 Jan 2025 14:02:56
Ahmed, I am not sure it’s possible to get any lighter up front! We not had a decent striker for years, Rasmus was never good enough from day one…. In fact for many seasons scoring goals been a big problem, so whoever had the brainwave an unproven kid was worthy of being the star man and only striker, needs taking to Specsavers or better still the loony bin!
Wes if you read I said we the fans on here not the club back the manager, Ten was backed to the hilt and back again, if only they had backed Jose in the same way, but that’s not what I am talking about I’m talking about us fans on here, can’t moan because RA wants rid of Garnacho, who by the way thinks he is Ronaldo. even shows of his Ronaldo pants above his shorts how sad is this kid!
