I hope everyone has seen the clip doing the rounds on social media of Zirkzee taking the ball down out the air with a wonderful touch, to then drive forward and nutmeg Saliba (supposedly one of the best CB's in the world according to Arsenal fans) not once but TWICE, leaving the Frenchman tied up in knots and flat on his arse.

It was a moment of beauty. I'm still not entirely sure whether Zirkzee will make it with us, but I'm glad to see him put in a few improved performances. I wasn't happy to hear him booed as he left the pitch a couple of weeks ago, that goes against the grain for me. So I'm pleased to see him rising above that and putting in some improved performances.

I hope he makes me eat my words and goes on to do very well with us.

He stepped up against Arsenal beautifully. Great cameo from him and did a top job, and took his penalty well.

A lot has been made of Zirkzee and if he has the skillset to make it at United. What he did show on Sunday is that he has the mental toughness and resilience needed to succeed.

We have seen many false dawns at United, but the last two games there seems to be a change in the players attitude and demour, like every game is now a battle they must win, let’s hope it continues.

Showed more in 10 mins than Hoyland did in 80 mins.
But neither good e.

Will be interesting with our strikers and whether Amorim thinks that either Hojlund or Zirkzee can make it in his system. At the minute both are getting opportunities and time to improve and I think you can see this. Unfortunately, neither are hitting the net consistently.
I think if we can get in another striker, Muani, Vlahovic, David to take the pressure off these two we may see them both improve. Or look to move them on.

I'm not sure Zirkzee was actually getting booed against Newcastle. I think he just happened to be the player brought off and whoever it was would have got pelters. The performance was that inept that if it had been Bruno, Martinez or God himself coming off they'd have got grief.

Time will be the ultimate decider for a few players who have recently stepped up. De Ligt and Zirkzee, coming from slower leagues, may need additional time to acclimatize and adjust to the faster pace of the PL, can't be writing them off this early.

Agreed AA80 - I think whoever came off at that point would have felt the vitriol of the Utd fans. Not cool either way, but I don't think it was personal, just a (largely) collective show of disapproval with the performance.
As for Zirkzee, I agree with the general theme here. Showed some great touches on sunday, especially a moment (not sure if it's the one you're referring to Shappy) where he held the ball up against three players and feinted in both directions, coming out with the ball and setting up an attack. That's what he does best, and he was brave enough to take a penalty, although of course it was expected of him. I was quite worried during the shootout when Yoro and Martinez stepped up, but all penalties were excellent.
Still. not sure Zirkzee is what we want or need. Rasmus was surely purchased as an understudy to Kane or worst case to rotate with Martial, and we ended up with the understudy alone.

Think we have to trust and back the manager to know who fits best for how he wants to play. I didn't like the abuse Zirkzee got so if he makes it here I will be happy.
