I came a cross the highlights of a 6-2 win at Newcastle back in 2003 with Paul Scholes scoring a hat trick. The thing that struck me is how refereeing has changed. Shearer could easily have been red carded two or three times in today's climate. Two occasions in particular, an elbow to the head, and a disgraceful scissor tackle, would quite possibly get red cards. As it transpired the third offense, the scissor tackle, got only a yellow.

Football is soft now. you can’t do anything without some clown in a room dictating the play
It’s got worse as var has been introduced for me
Use it for offsides but anything else should be the refs decision.
