Banter please Ed
New Year, same old chaos
I want to see RA be successful but would not be surprised if he doesn't last much longer. He looks completely lost and to suggest we might get relegated is one of the worst things I have heard.
I realise we are seeing a new system but these are highly paid professionals who should be able to adapt. I also realise we seem to have some bad eggs but the turnover of players has been pretty significant, I can't believe everyone we have bought has a bad attitude.
The team selection against Newcastle was very odd, and the lack of hunger and desire was worrying, if the new man is not motivating people to show commitment then we are in a deep hole.
We went through a lengthy process of analysis before appointing ETH and then sacked him after 2 years. This time, we seem to have jerked our knee and potentially appointed someone who may be out of his depth.
Yes, yes, give him time, success at Sporting, it's all the players fault, blah blah blah, but this one just doesn't feel right to me, and to talk of relegation is worse than anything Moyes ever said, and he said some stupid things.
Is he a 1 trick pony, and did the other clubs who considered him decide that? His name never came up for United and suddenly here we are, it doesn't feel like a well thought through master plan does it?

AjH,
The club has been a mess for years. There are too many things to sort out in the shirt term.
1. Clubs finances and complying with the FFO and PSR.
2. Selling players on big wages (most are mesiocre)
3. Implementing a new structure - ongoing
4. New manager, new ideas.
All of this will take time. For years we as fans have been spoilt. It is time to suck it up and get on with it.
This current predicament the club find theirselves in should allow them to quickly decide who will stay and go. Paying huge wages certainly doesn't help.
However, the club might not have the time should Utd get drawn into a relegation battle and subsequently get relegated. The only silver lining would be a lot of players moving on.
Every fan etc is thoroughly p1ssed off. All we can do is sit back and see what happens.
I hope now we see some consistent team selections, as this should help steady the ship.

He didn’t suggest we might get relegated to be fair, he was asked the question if we are in a relegation battle and answered it saying “of course”, so not quite the words it sounds like. Think the poor guy has done more interviews than training so far, just need to leave him alone and let him train the team, he will do a good job if given time I’ve no doubts.

I’m not entirely sure what players get up to on a daily basis but RM said they’d only had FOUR complete training sessions up to last weekend. That’s less than one a week since he was appointed! Other than recuperating from injuries nothing can be more important surely? New schedule required I think!

Haircuts, tattoos, golf, buying cars and social media.

The amorim criticism is laughable. The blokes inherited a dire squad, none of which are his purchases. he's inherited a squad who have gotten away with lack of effort and determination for years. The minute he calls players out and leaves them out the rashford bum boys are out in force saying he's been treated poorly. When in reality, he has no leg to stand on. Past disciplinary issues speaks for itself. he's had one good season since his breakout season. He ain't the messiah. And being an academy player doesn't count for anything unless there is effort.
And now because Amorim refuses to deviate from the plan he's being labelled a one trick pony. By armchair fans.
I much like Amorim would rather suffer this year and be in a better place in the future. Ship out the crap that ten hag brought in barring Martinez, Mazraoui, De Ligt and Hojlund. Back the manager in the summer and see what the man can do with signings, with time to implement his playing style.
Hes been in the job since november for christ sake and already people are calling for his head.
Get a f'in grip lads.

This is priceless, the beauty is I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not AJH ?.
03 Jan 2025 03:49:39
AJH. You’re going a bit over the top there, this is all the aftermath of ETH buys and they are diabolical coupled with what we had, so an impossible situation.
DN8 imo even the players you mentioned are nowhere near the required DeLigt is far too slow bad as McGuire, Martinez been poor for over 18 months his days are numbered, Rasmus can’t hit a barn door and spends too much time on the floor and trying to wrestle than be a top level striker, I am not even convinced Mazziouri can play the system there is a reason no one else wanted him! But at least he gives his all, so that’s something. Terrible Squad far worse than what ETH took on I said at the time all the players he buying are worse than what he got rid off!
But AJH seriously 2 months in and you want him out because you feel you don’t like him, come on serioulsy.

De ligt is all good. He should be playing in the middle CB position. We looked much more solid at the back when he did.
Problem is that for some unknown reason people watch harry McGuire play and think he resembles a reasonable option at the back. Of course he can only play centrally where more people have a chance of covering for him, so de ligt gets moved to the right.
We need to change half the squad. So buckle up!

Dn8red, armchair fan? Born in Manchester, started supporting when we were in Div 2, I've been to more games than you've had hot dinners.
Dodgy, I'm being serious. I'm not advocating a change, I'm just saying he looks a little lost right now. Maybe this is the pain we need to go through to get out the other side, and it's certainly painful.
German, read my post, you have completely misrepresented it.
Spenno, if that's true, then it's a disgrace.

His name was constantly linked with City as Pep’s replacement, so I think his pedigree isn’t in question.
Remember these players got EtH sacked a few months ago, the new manager bounce was minimal and they soon reverted to type.
This season maybe painful, but Amorim is finding out who will adapt to his system, the only shock for him is how few players are making the standard. None of this is a shock to us.

Big Sam is available ???.

How is giving the players recovery days a disgrace? Look at the fixtures since Amorim started, we’ve played every 3 or 4 days, we had 5 days on one occasion and that was before we travelled to Plzen. This week is the longest gap we have had between fixtures (not including international breaks) since September, and that’s only Monday to Sunday. The following week will be the longest break all season so the players will get on the training ground.
We struggled with injuries last season, Amorim has made it clear that he hasn’t been able to train the players properly, I’d assume when we have 3 days between games they do very little on the training ground, with recovery and travel included that should be little surprise. Hammering the players between these games will mean we have nobody available as they will all be injured.
If you look at it this way you can see why the players are struggling, and why I don’t think he will be bothered we went out of the Carabao, and why I think we will go on a bit of a run starting with the Southampton game.
03 Jan 2025 12:35:15
Imo he’s not lost at all and knows exactly what he wants. Just getting that from this club is likely a no no. These players are the ones that look lost because they lack intelligence. Not one of them i’d count on as having a decent IQ. They all look thick as pig ?.

My God, 24 players need to go before thr manager. Pound for pound the worst squad in football right now and in contention for the worst value team ever.
No manager would do anything with this squad. A good manager though would split it up, there are very few pieces that should be kept.
I have a hard time thinking of a team who have spaffed so much money for so little return on the playing g staff. Fans need to leave the manager alone. The players deserve all the ire of the fans right now.
It's not just the performance on the pitch, it's the crap surrounding them off the pitch.
