We need to wake up to the fact that it doesn't matter if we win or challenge for anything. We're a tourist attraction and it doesn't matter how poor we are, they'll still come and companies will still pay for the privilege of being associated with us.
We are absolutely rubbish, rubbish players, rubbish stadium, rubbish everything.

I am not sure what the future holds for RA. But at present he is by and far the worst manager ever to coach Manchester United (on stats) .

The manager is trying to do something this bunch of players have never experienced, stick to his guns.
Since Jose, various iterations of the United squad has bucked against any shift in tactics. Any time managers have tried to shake things up - usually asking for more intensity, pressing off the ball, and control in possession - the team have performed abysmally. What I have seen, year after year, is players that want to play uncomplicated counterattack football. They want to sit deep in defence, and break quickly as soon as they have possession. It’s lazy football that requires the minimum amount of running, and zero brain power.
They did the exact same thing when ETH arrived, and he buckled. Gave up on his existing approach, and tried to pretend it was always his plan to be the “best team in transition. ” It got him fired.
Ruben seems to have a bit more about him
and is placing the responsibility on the players to learn the system. The performances and results are terrible, but it’s shining a spotlight on the players not adapting or even trying to learn what to do. This is the system, either players learn what they need to do to work in it, or the can feck off. I’m sick of players coasting and the upside of the 3-4-2-1 is that there’s nowhere for them to hide.

I feel an essay is on the way lol :D.

I heard LFC overlooked Amorim as his style didn’t fit in with the players they had. If he can’t play any other system than 3-4-3 then I am disappointed. Some of these players have played many systems in their careers and you are delude to think these players doesn’t know how to play 3-4-3 lol.

Equaliser,
I have watched them play this system for a few weeks and I can guarantee you that the vast majority of them do not know or are incapable of playing this system. I’d say 6 of the correct squad can play it and 3 of them were unavailable tonight, the rest are useless but we already knew that. Stupid players with no pace and no technical ability, things will get better but we have to back the manager at the moment.

The difference with Liverpool is that they have a team that has shown it can compete at the top.
Most top managers have their own style and way they want the game played, hence why they're at the top of their profession.
Klopp got rid of the players that didn't suit his style. Arteta had some high earners he had to turf out before he got the balance right. Pep spent some small countries GDP on defenders before he figured it out.
The players struggling to adapt to a new system shouldn't come as a shock, they're footballing intellect is shocking. The space they occupy, the passes they choose, the decisions they make are all consistently poor.
The team should be dismantled and a new one built in the managers image. No point getting cold feet because these players are brutal.

“The players struggling to adapt to a new system shouldn't come as a shock, they're footballing intellect is shocking”
People are sounding like this is a unique system. Some of these players are top internationals.
The team should be dismantled and a new one built in the managers image.
Well that will restore another 1 billion then.

Players out, amorim in. Let's go.
31 Dec 2024 02:11:04
So what's the problem then Equalizer?
If the players are good enough to play this system, why have we lost 4 in a row?
Why are we closer to the relegation spots than Europe?
If these intellectual internationals aren't the problem what is?

At some point you have to ask what set up does suit these players? Even only going back as far as Ten Hag taking the job they've shown they can't excel in any set up. In the last 4 or 5 years we've played 4231, 433, 442, 4222 and 343 across a few managers and we've been poor for most of that.
I won't blame Amorim for any of this at all. Look at the squad he's taken over. We've spent billions to be forced to start Diogo Dalot each week, who everyone knew wasn't good enough when we sent him out on loan to Milan where he flopped 3 years ago.
It's on Ineos to fix this now. If you go out and get Amorim mid season, back him properly, don't say there's no money available and we can't sell Rashford so just reintegrate him into the squad.

Mumbles
Well it’s a combination of many. Players, poor recruitment, manager who is hell bent on playing only one type of football.
Klopp got rid of the players that didn't suit his style.
Except that Klopp did get a Top 4 in his second season,

Eddie Howe after the game:
"Confidence is the ultimate thing that makes the difference. The players are playing in their best positions and look happy and comfortable and our injury record has also improved from last year. "
We have none of that. Players in a new system/ positions, unsettled, low on confidence and still injuries. So as good as the players are supposed to be, if it takes that to be producing solid results then it's no wonder.
Hopefully RA will get some time off the field with the players after this hectic period and at least make some January movements.

RA messed around with players too much within the first 6 games. He introduced a new system to the team and consistently rotated. That has had a massive effect on their ability to get used to the system and play.
Now, because of the constant tinkering, in the new system, everyone looks like a fish out of water. They play with no confidence in what they are supposed to do.
These players are intelligent enough to do it but when you constantly rotate, do not build the confidence, this is what will happen. They're humans, losing easily becomes a habit and confidence has been drained. Now it's becoming a real issue.
Lose to Liverpool at the weekend and it's 7 losses in 12. If this was ETH, there would be people jumping up and down on here asking for his head.
RA, is a deer in the headlights and I'm afraid might be way out of his depth. He has to persist now and not go back and change again.
But please RA, pick a settled side. Build from there.
