Banter please

Mayday mayday, dive. dive dive! Lots of knees will be jerking after a bad loss and a very clunky performance, but let's not overreact. We should have beaten Spurs, we had more than enough chances to do so. Same today, more chances, more shots on target.

There seem to be 2 critical issues right now.

The first is we give away silly goals. The defence has changed to a back 3 and is being rotated every game. I'm not saying that excuses poor defending, but it is a new system and with the players changing every game, there will be mistakes.

The second is our inability to put away chances. If RVP had been playing today and on Thursday, we would have won both games. Sadly, we don't have an RVP, we have Hojlund who has potential, and that seems to be it.

I am hoping RA had a plan, that the constant rotation is to assess who is good enough and who isn’t. He needs to decide on a back 3 and stick with them, let them get used to each other and feel settled. As for up front, where to statt? Bruno has lost his goal touch, Zirkzee looks ponderous, so as a first step, tell Hojlund he is first choice. It's time for decisions. He's made one with Rashford, but there are others he needs to make now.

We lost 3 nil but our XG was higher than Bournemouth, same for Spurs, we are not getting battered in the real sense. I know it's frustrating as we could have gone 10th (how sad I am celebrating that), but I don't think it's as dark as some believe.

Agree6 Disagree0

Poor show today no doubt but currently bigmouth are a better team than us.
That showed today.
Even our individuals didn't shine today.
They're still be plenty more if this type of result until the end of the season depending on what happens in Jan and I suspect there will be a couple out and a couple in as rashford will go and free up space and wages I suspect ericksen too.
I'm just hoping we reserve most of our food days for the europa league it's the only comp that matters as far as I'm concerned this season.
We are miles off getting the consistency required to qualify for Europe through the league.
He will be learning from every game. Let's hope we get a buyer for rashford and reinvest well for what the manger wants and needs in Jan.

This season is a free hit for Amorim. He has a proper chance to assess who will stay and who needs to go, who can adapt to the way he plays and also prepare targets for the summer.

As I have said a number of times I would like to see him bring in some of the academy players next year and see who is ready to make the step up. I believe there is good core of players there who if brought through right, could be the basis of our squad for years to come.

I know it's unrealistic but I would love it if Utd didn't tour abroad during the summer and RA got four weeks to really drill the players so that they felt comfortable doing what he expects.

Its obvious there is going to be a big turnover of playing staff on the next few windows funds permitting and you begin to wonder how more new players can gel with so. Little tile for coaching.

Apapparently we want to go on a Malaysia tour and the end of the season so that ideas probably out the window. No point going on these money making tours when the teams crap but that’s just my opinion.

We have to realise that many of our players are simply not good enough. They weren't good enough for Ten Haag and they certainly are not good enough for Amorim. I would keep only a handful of players from that team. Out with Dalot, Malacia, Fernandes (who simply doesn't know what discipline is), Garnacho, Zirkzee, Martinez, Maguire and Onana. They do not have the technical ability, tactical nous, athleticism, desire or football intelligence to be able to compete at the highest level. This is not just a reaction to today's performance.

Not sure what to say. everything is a wee bit numb. Strangely I thought utd played some decent stuff at times but the defending is criminal but again can't hit a barn door. had enough chances to score at least 3 or 4.but this is utd now and I fear it's going to get worse before it actually gets better. Wolves will be rubbing their hands. Newcastle too, and God knows what Liverpool will do to us. May need a lot of drink til June lads.

Poor today. I think only 7 will survive the cull coming over the next 3 windows. Yoro, de ligt, mainoo, uagrte, amad, mazroui and holjund. These 7 are hard working the rest will go. Bruno for me is a weird one he works hard and creates a lot but he loses the ball alot, moans a lot and can be petulant which isn't what you need from the leader.

Get some young hungry players in who want to wear the shirt and not play for themselves.

Amorim is a good manager and given time and the right players we will get back to the top or near it.

There’s no magic wand and it’s unrealistic to believe entire clearouts will occur across a couple of windows when typically a club might buy/ sell 3-4 players. We’re handicapped by contracts but at least a few are expiring so fingers crossed we can see some movement in January with maybe a player or two already up to speed with the formation coming in.

yesterday was woeful performance and walked out after 3rd goal went in. There are a few players to stick with but we are no farther forward than we were with any of the other post saf managers. Amorim is new and deserves time but the structure and constraints on transfers etc make it a near impossible task to bring back any kind of glory. City result papered over gorges, not cracks and sjr has not covered himself in the glitter we all hoped with the STILL cack handed running of the club. Football has changed from an enjoyable passtime/ hobby to a vicious mercenary money making game and our club is definately in the top 4 of that. Bring in the younguns, we have prospects and let them fight for the right to be united heroes of the fans rather than the rashfords, sanchos, onanas etc who are overated, over payed and should be overlooked.

23 Dec 2024 13:27:24
You'd probably still walk out on the young guns.

23 Dec 2024 13:53:41
no ken you're wrong as I believe they would actually put the effort in- not like some of the current players who I think have ability but not the will to work!
I travel a canny distance to each and every home game and like countless others sacrifice other events to watch utd play. I don't think its a big expectation to want effort. Amorim has a monster job on his hands and as with every other manager will back him and it is indeed early days but like many, I didn't or have ignored the monumental task he has and to the depths we have sunk with the current situation both accumulated over time and recently by our clubs mis management.

I think we will get worse, and things will get rougher this year in part because the new coaching team are going to have very little time to implement their ideas with the schedule.

I think there will be a negative reaction because this teams knows it's done and that they are on their way out.

There may be some movement in January but I think the summer will be brutal.

Most of all I think Ineos now know the enormity of the task to sort this squad out and yea Amorim does have a free hit because they realise that very little of the squad will be here in three years time.

23 Dec 2024 18:30:16
It's going to take a bit of time but I think things are going in the right direction, on and off the pitch.
