I missed the 1st half. Came in when we were 1-0 down to watch Martinez make a pigs ear of two defensive plays each of which cost a goal. I don't see him fitting in to Amorim's future plans. It would not surprise me to see him sold n the summer. I can also see why Amorim would love to have a fit Shaw.
Bayandir is not the answer to Onana. Spurs' 4th goal was a pusillanimous piece of goalkeeping, whether or not he was somewhat impeded. He should have been able to deal with it.
I liked our fight back at 3-0 down. Mind you, the only reason we were in it at all was their goalie errors. Forster is not the answer to Onana. But, without the effort, the errors don't occur. Amad creating goals from nothing but sheer pressure is is becoming a regular occurrence.
For me the two most important goals for this season are to at least qualify for next year's Europa league. Given the bunching in the middle of the table that should be quite possible. After that to win this year's Europa which would set us fair for 2025/ 6. So going out of the Carabao doesn't bother me at all. I regard this weekend's premier league game as far more important.

He should have been able to deal with a player grabbing his arm and pulling it down when he was going for the ball? Shocking decision, we seem to get a lot of them.
Could be the best thing to happen to us going out of this cup. We have won it before and papered over the cracks. This time we need to expose the festering doom below and clean up the wound properly.
Agree that martinez is having a mixed start under amorim. He has looked poor defensively at times. His passing has been both excellent and woeful. He could come good, but we can't keep giving up so many cheep goals, so the rope is short.

The 4th goal is foul and its just useless referring and let's not mince our words there. The worst part of that ref call is that in the replays he has an unobstructed view of the whole thing. For the best league in the world these are some of the worst refs imo and the arrogant person gave Bayandir a yellow on top of it for complaining.
I like dalot and he is doing a job to the best of his ability but he can't cross the ball properly with his left foot. Need a left footed wingback. Unfortunately Antony can't cross the ball worth a damn either or shoot without side footing it so very few options atm.
Maybe its wishful thinking but a match fit shaw that needs to be managed would make a great difference in my opinion and even help garna playing on the left. Having a wing back and winger who both will come right on their fav foot makes it easier to defend that wing. Not sure if anyone picked up on it but spurs were loading the right hand side with players and there was always a lot more space available on the left.
{Ed025's Note - i dont think it was a foul Ahmad, i think the keeper has to be stronger than that mate and got himself in a bad position, in fact he had a nightmare all game for me but the consolation is that he was not the worst keeper in that match, i never thought i would say this but come back Onana all is forgiven..

LOL. Onana has a screw up gene in him too. someone said that the other day and its true. he can look great but has that crazy unthinkable moment in him too.
Sure he can be stronger but its foul. Using your arms to obstruct a goalies from using his arms is a foul. if we had var even though they can be incompetent it would get overturned imo.
In general I think ref standards have gotten worse in the pl the last few years. The league makes so much money I would hire the best refs in Europe and elsewhere.
{Ed025's Note - i agree that the refs are awful Ahmad and the standard is just not good enough mate, as for the keeper he has to do better for me, oh for a new De Gea or Schmeichel..

Heaven help us if Onana gets injured, and I never thought I'd say that.

Every goal in that game came from woeful defending. Not sure we can say that a player doesn’t fit in a system because they make a mistake, Martinez should be perfect for left centreback, but concentration and decision making are problems.

The keeper should have been driving his fist through the ball, strong not trying to catch it with both hands and threw a wobble when he couldn't get his left hand near the ball, I mean that's a forwards job from corners get in the way of the keeper.

Had there been VAR, I doubt very much that the contact would have been regarded as sufficient to warrant the decision on the pitch being overturned. He misjudged the flight and went up weakly and without any conviction. Chances are he would have let it in without any contact at all.

It wasn't grabbing his arm. It was a glancing touch. Might be a foul in the modern game, but keeper has to be stronger. (Speaking as a keeper who made a few trial games with Aberdeen reserves ?) .

I have seen the Spurs fourth from a different angle and it was a clear foul on the keeper. He is going to catch it and the spurs player clearly pushes his left arm down so he couldn’t catch it. Sorry but that is a clear foul.
