Sorry lads, I spoke too soon below on Ratcliffe, I take it all back.
He's really made a positive and important move this week by also cutting the staffs annual Christmas bonus from £100 to a £40 M&W voucher.
This is the kind of ruthlessness we need to get back to the top.
Sorry GDS, I take it all back.

I was someone who relentlessly put the Sheikh forward, to be told SJR was the answer, however I think we should still give SJR some time.
I don’t think the situation with Ashworth looks good yet there was always a chance of disagreement when putting a disparate group together.
SJR actions with the staff and putting prices up however do not unify the club. Lots of rumours of Berrada trying to cool things down but the whole thing of treating the staff badly leaves a nasty taste.
Still Ashworth allegedly didn’t want RA and advocated Southgate, that’s a sacking offence. I can only hope the next choice if there is one, is more in line with thinking and knows we need open heart surgery, so maybe Rangnick may arrive. The guy from Sporting Lisbon if not committed to City or Beruristein even. Whilst news we may not replace has been mooted, it would be strange to set up a whole new system to abandon it 5 months later.
Lastly, new year wish, Sheikh buys the majority Glazers out, works with SJR. I can dream.

I don't have the energy to care anymore. The club is a disgrace, top to bottom. One drama after another. Who could be bothered with it all.
10 Dec 2024 21:44:16
Red Man. Do you think the Sheik would have known what do with United once he got hold of it?
10 Dec 2024 21:45:50
Red man, have you read Jim's thoughts on the Glazers?
10 Dec 2024 21:58:38
I got to say (as someone who agrees there have to be cuts) . that reducing an already measly £100 bonus to a £40 M&W voucher has got to be one of the most ridiculously petty acts imaginable. How much will that save? Maybe £50k or 1/ 6th of Rashford's weekly wage. Very nasty. Who is M&W anyway? The closest I came to when I googled it was M&W canine shop. I bet quite a number of the employees don't even have a dog.
PS. Yes I realize it was probably a misprint.
11 Dec 2024 00:33:53
It's not just a voucher. It's a M&S voucher.
Surprised it's not a Megastore voucher. Got to get the money back somehow.
11 Dec 2024 01:36:37
Yep. It seems like in any business it’s the bottom feeders that are hardest hit. I agree with most sentiments on here that the people who are supposed to be performing are not and yet still get their full wage. Ashworth will certainly not have left with empty pockets. The poor ground level staff are performing week in week out and yet get screwed.
Was not really on either side of the argument regarding SJR but so far he is not blowing my skirt up!
11 Dec 2024 05:20:12
I read the voucher thing and i think their emotional intelligence is zero. its petty stuff and a rounding error and why do it. Encouraging bad press during a time when you need less noise and stability.
11 Dec 2024 06:22:23
The Sheikh may have cash to burn, but that doesn't mean everything would be rosy, who knows? Maybe he would want to have some 'star signings', maybe ge would want to pick the team.
SJR seemed to be going in the right direction, good structure, change of personnel, exciting Manager appointment. But the Ashworth debacle, and the prices / redundancies/ bonuses issues leave a very source taste.
11 Dec 2024 09:47:46
What’s the point in yearning for someone who didn’t provide proof of funds, or make an acceptable offer of any kind.
11 Dec 2024 11:14:30
Apology accepted. Every small thing that has no affect on our lives being discussed within an inch of its life and talked about in the press is a big part of the problem, I don’t get a Christmas bonus at work, I just do my job, there have been salary rises for some members of staff behind the scenes at united but they aren’t reported, wonder why?
I get it, Sir Jim has probably done a few things wrong, time will tell whether the team he’s put in place eventually gets it right, if Ashworth isn’t the right man I’d rather we cut ties than stick with something not working for 2-3 years, that was all I said on the previous post, yet people took offence for some reason. I’m surprised so many are bothered about people they have never met getting a bonus, did you even know they got £100 previously? Do you know how much they used to get before that and whether it’s taxed which the vouchers won’t be?
I just can’t bring myself to be annoyed about well paid people being given a Christmas bonus, it’s none of our business and doesn’t affect our lives, I’ll be judging United on the results and performances as well as the transfer business and fixes done to the mess these guys inherited over the next 2-3 years, just find it tedious to discuss every little thing that goes on in a business, half of it we aren’t even getting the full story about.
11 Dec 2024 12:11:35
It’s not solely about a Christmas bonus, that’s just the f-you cherry on top. Staff have been consistently talking about how the working environment has worsened since Ratcliffe took over. Part of it is the layoffs, which not only pushed a lot of lower earners into unemployment, but also increased the workloads and pressures of the remaining employees.
Ratcliffe could have acknowledged the effort that employees have made to adapt to these new conditions. Instead, he saw another opportunity to cut a minuscule bit of costs. Costs that pale in comparison to the additional compensation paid to both ETH and now Ashworth. It’s the faux aesthetics of “good business” - using lower paid staff to give the impression of fiscal competence, while spaffing millions up the wall.
It might not matter to you how the club treats its staff, but United started off as a club servicing and serviced by the working class community surrounding it. It’s the working class staff that are being mistreated by Ratcliffe, and that’s an attack on the ethos I want the club to stand for. If it was fiscal prudence, he might be able to justify it. But, as I said, it’s more about punishing the lowest paid staff to make it look like he’s running things in a more efficient way.
BTW - key’s joke is under appreciated.
11 Dec 2024 15:10:20
Well paid people? You know the salaries of all the staff do you and how much a bonus might mean to them. Good on your company if they chose not to pay you a bonus, but that doesn't make it right.
If that doesn't annoy you, what about the ticket price hikes to U16s or OAPs or are they all well off too GDS?
A working class club built on the back of working class people, but good to know these things don't annoy you ?.
11 Dec 2024 18:20:36
The shiekh will be great.
Just think how cheaply Utd can build a new stadium with all that slave Labour.
And all the lols we can have with the irony of him having a women's team.
Honestly, it's amazing just how low people are prepared to go simply because they support a football club.
11 Dec 2024 19:56:49
Angel,
I don’t think I said any of it doesn’t annoy me, I said analysing every little thing within an inch of its life annoys me. Ticket prices for the 3% of tickets that didn’t sell are now on sale at a higher price which I believe all sold for the Forest game despite the weather, my dad’s OAP ticket is still the same price, it’s easy to read the headline though.
I don’t know the salary of everybody at the club but I know a few people that work there that aren’t making it out to be the horrendous place you say everyone is saying it is, maybe they are just the ones that shout loudest, who knows?
Ratcliffe will get some things wrong, I can’t be too fussed about people I don’t know getting £40 to spend at M&S when there are millions in poverty and using food banks.
11 Dec 2024 21:44:21
Danny, ???.
12 Dec 2024 07:44:44
People still seems to think SJR is here to turn the club around. He's a businessman and is interested in one thing only - profits. Don't kid yourself into thinking this man is interested in anything other than increasing his own net worth.
12 Dec 2024 10:25:59
As opposed to who?
