"My players were thinking too much during the game. "

I've been banging on about this for a while now. Virtuosi make everything look simple. They are so well practiced and confident in what they are doing there's no space between the thinking and the doing. There's no difference between a musician and a footballer in this respect, except that a footballer is part of a team and each member of the team needs to be at the same level.

Amorim is inheriting a group of players who may or may not be talented enough from a raw skill or mental fortitude point of view. That remains to be seen. We simply cannot yet assess to what extent individual potentials are being stifled by the inability of any manger since SAF to instill a cohesive team dynamic.

It's a big challenge. I'd like to think there are quite a few who will come good if and when a clearly defined system is adopted. There are some who never will, and others who are simply going to age out. We probably all share similar views on who fits which category. But one can see a team developing from a base made up of Onana, Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw (if fit), Martinez, (if fit), Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Garnacho (if he can become a team player) and possibly Diallo. I've left out Bruno, Rashford, Mount and Hojlund, and Zirkzee who has yet to impress. Whether any of them will rise to the challenge will depend on their ability to adapt to what Amorim will be trying to create from the pieces he's been handed.

I'd agree with most of them, Shaw. But I still think Mount can be a very good player for us in this system and under this manager.
(If fit) ?.

Was hoping Amorim could coach these players to perform better, but not holding out too much hope.
Will be interesting too see how long he persists with these players and if he decides to go to the academy and promote very quickly.

To be fair Grim, he's had 2 sessions, and they were mostly with the players who didn't make international duty. I'll be very surprised if we see that lineup again.

Haha Grim, you were hoping but after one game after 2 sessions with exactly the same players you now don’t think he can. Yoro, Martinez, Mainoo all to come back in, that’s 3 very important players, let’s give him slightly longer than a week.

I think Mount will be a big player for us under Amorin, I think we will see pretty much all the big names go over the next two years.

I would stay away over analyzing sunday's game now that I watched the full game. I think the selections will change and we will see some poor performances and some really good ones. Everything is new for us atm and I would wait till we get 10/ 15 games under our belt and we will know a lot more about.

We need a settled midfield who are progressive and can retain possession and a front 3 that works as a unit and makes good decisions. Neither atm is there.

GDS totally agree with that view. A lot of what I’ve read has been a bit OTT.

The biggest issue in the game on subset was tj both ericksen and casimero both kept passing backwards. The took a pass fre deligt and passed it to Shaw took it from Shaw and gave it to deligt and on and on it went.
Eventually succumbing to a decent press and having to go long.
Neither cas or ericksen looked to open up and play forward often enough. When we did play forward and move forward quickly it looked better. Ugarte and mainoo make the world of difference there imo. Mount in where garnacho was and garnacho wre dalot was is what I think we will see sooner rather than later.
Front man will be between rasmus and rash.
