Training squad today included Yoro, Mount and Malacia.

Yes, I did say Malacia and I am absolutely made up for the lad. Whether or not he ultimately succeeds at United, it's good to see him back. ???.

Agree9 Disagree0

I think he has issues with the surgery and recovery itself. Hope he gets back to full health as there was a decent LB in there.

06 Nov 2024 14:30:19
Looking forward to seeing Yoro, especially under Amorim. Needs to bulk up a bit possibly but the raw materials are definitely there.

06 Nov 2024 15:02:39
Malacia showed potential early on. He picked up an injury at the WC and never looked right after that.

Fingers crossed he can return, stay fit and have a positive impact.

06 Nov 2024 15:53:31
Malacia has been training with the team for over a month now. I'm a little surprised he hasn't atleast made the bench already.

06 Nov 2024 16:28:25
Say what you will about Malacia, obviously something very wrong happened with whatever along the way and you don't wish that upon any professional. Hopefully he can make a comeback, with United or not.

06 Nov 2024 17:13:43
Unruly,

He isn't being rushed back, which is the best way. I'd imagine we might see him after the international break.

06 Nov 2024 17:14:24
Unruly,
I
I think it’s longer than a month. It’s great to see Yoro back out there, hopefully Mainoo back soon as well.

06 Nov 2024 17:55:02
Completely agree MH. We also need Mainoo and Maguire back after the break. I think Maguire will suit a back 3 if that is what Amorim will go with, so a good option to have. I also think Luke Shaw could comfortably play on the left of a back three, as an alternative to Licha, especially given Shaw's fitness issues. At CB he'll have to do less running which is probably good for his glass feet.

{Ed025's Note - i think if you are looking for players who can get you up the table Unruly, then Maguire and Shaw would be the last players i would pick mate..

06 Nov 2024 18:53:12
Ed025 I see your point, Maguire isn't good enough and Shaw is never fit. They both are solid options to have off the bench though.

{Ed025's Note - they are both very well paid Unruly and to be honest they are not up to the job mate, if United want to compete you have to have better and both of these are squad blockers, Harry is very slow and always seems to have a mistake in him while Luke is a total waste of space as he is always injured (unless hes on England duty of course), these are the type United have to get rid of...high earners who contribute very little, well thats my opinion anyway..

06 Nov 2024 20:42:44
Err I think it's the opposite, especially Shaw. utd have badly missed Shaw as utd tend to win more when Shaw plays.

{Ed025's Note - you must have a very good memory Nick.. :)

06 Nov 2024 23:23:09
When we have played with a back three wit Shaw on the left he was outstanding. We have missed his forward runs and link up with Rashford.

06 Nov 2024 22:05:07
We are indeed miles better when Shaw plays Ed. It's only that we can barely remember the last time he did. Both definitely plus a couple of others need to be moved on in the summer though as you say.

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate i believe quite a few need to be moved on, Amorim will have his own ideas of course on who that will be will be decided when he evaluates the squad, i dont think it will be a quick fix though as some of the players who need moving on are on very lucrative contracts and to find a suitor will be difficult..

07 Nov 2024 04:55:28
Shaw when fit is one of the best left backs around in terms of ball retention, passing, defending and link up play going forward. Unfortunately you can't plan forward with shaw given his injury record and I would think the Hungarian guy kerkez playing for Bournemouth has to be our number one target. PL proven, age and profile ticks all the boxes. Really good player imo.

07 Nov 2024 06:34:27
ED025,

I agree with you. The real issue for Utd was offering Shaw a long term contract on big wages.

Consequently Utd are suffering from being unable to offload these high earners.

Personally I'd like to see Shaw, Maguire, Rashford, Lindelof, Ericsson, Casemiro, Anthony, Mount leave in the summer. I'm sure I could think of others but it's too early in the morning.

{Ed025's Note - all of them should be under consideration MH, of course it wont be done overnight mate but hopefully the attitude will improve on some of those players and Amorim can get a tune out of them for the rest of the season..

07 Nov 2024 13:15:01
Contracts ending over the next three years

Diallo, Maguire, lindelof, Evans, Heaton, Erikson end in 2025.

Casemiro, Malacia, Wheatley and Gore in 2026

Fernades, Mainoo, Shaw, Antony, Martinez, Bayinder and Collyer in 2027.

Some of them have an option of another year.

There aren't many there I would think we keep and sign to a new deal, Mainoo and a couple of the young lads, Martinez possibly however that may change by then depending on the clubs incoming between now amd then.

There are very few I think that you could sell amongst that lot so a lot you are stuck with. I don't see you being able to clear any of the players you want such as Antony because who on earth is going to pay the wages we are for 2 or 3 years, so you have a lot of dead wood blocking you getting the players you need.

I do think we will make a move for a CB or 2 next year and unless Amass convinces Amorin he's the future a LB as well but I don't think there will be huge movement as we simply need to get more gone.

Hopefully the execs can surprise me and shift a couple of others on but I am expecting an evolution rather than revolution amd a couple of years of shoehorning what we have into Amorins team till he can get the players he needs to make this really work.

I just looked at the next three years but there are still a number of high earners who are underperformed on longer deals.

07 Nov 2024 13:50:38
So some of them have contracts longer than the new managers contract.

07 Nov 2024 10:19:12
Ed025,

It feels like a big ask, when it shouldn't be. Some of the players across like spoilt brats.

{Ed025's Note - they really do MH, i have to say im very disappointed with Rash the most, came across as a really nice guy but his attitude for a while now has been very poor mate, i think hes really talented but if he doesn,t buck his ideas up then he should be one of the first out the door..

07 Nov 2024 17:37:06
Ed025,

I think the club will struggle the sell Rashford, unless he goes to the ME, as they will be the only place that will pay his huge wages.

09 Nov 2024 12:51:10
More and more people are saying they'd sell rash ed025.

I was very much in the camp of keeping him because of his talent. He looks awful sulky, his demeanour has been off for a while.

But I can't comment on him really because I don't know what's going on if anything is going on at all.

What I do know is that he is now in his prime year's and he needs to deliver or the years will fly by and we will just sit here and talk about that one season for the rest of his life.

I really hope Amorim can get a tune out of him.

{Ed025's Note - so do i angel, when hes at his best he is unplayable mate but what we are seeing now is a shadow of that, he looks as though he is not enjoying it at all and a lot of the time he looks like he just cant be arsed, i hope Amorim makes the difference and he starts to enjoy it again because if he does he can be the difference to United, but if not then he has to go for me im afraid..

09 Nov 2024 21:05:39
He's a left back ed 25, utd haven't had a fit one in yonks and when fit is usually one of utds best players. hence why utd won win more and move up the table if he plays. Not memory just basic fact.

{Ed025's Note - my memory is not that great Nick. I can’t remember him not being injured mate. And to be honest if you see him as a good player you are setting the bar very low imo..
