Welcome Ruben Amorim and note it is as Head Coach.
I am delighted and for the first time since SAF retired I feel we have truly got the right man. He is young, driven and I am excited for what is ahead. I don't expect miracles to begin with, maybe a bit of dead cat bounce but he is very much the right quality to change our whole outlook. I also admire him staying for a period respecting his club, says a lot about the man.
Look forward to going to a game or two later this season which I wasn't looking forward to under previous manager.
Felt ok with all the managers since SAF but this is a different feeling, one of optimism and I applaud the new ownership on this.

And his title is head coach rather manager with all that that entails.

know nothing about him but if ashworth berrada wilcox have put their heads togethr and done their research then you have to hope he will be decent. Surely those 3 plus Amorim have disussed in detail the current squad, playing style, the youngsters coming through and the budget over the next 2 windows -now everyone from SJR to the tea lady have to give him 100% support for us to make progress.

Start of a new manager and wish him the best and hope we don't look back and he is the one that sticks. Not expecting miracles but hopefully towards the latter parts of the season as the team getting used to his style we can get a glimpse of what's to come. Anything more would be a bonus. Still think we will be somewhere around 4th to 6th this year.
Sporting are playing tonight although the opposition is not great but next week they host city in the CL. Recommend you watch the games if you can and it will give you an idea of how he sets up teams and plays.
He has Danish midfielder which to me is the architect of his team and would suit us really well whilst everyone is fixated on their striker. I would rather take the dane next summer given we would be looking to bring in mids with eriksen and cas most likely leaving.

Sure Hjolmund was one of the names discussed before we settled on Ugarte.
Love the enthusiasm Ahmad but I wouldn’t expect vintage Fergie to get us 4th this season. Hope to be proved very wrong however!

Ugarte of course making his name under Amorin and being bought for what he did at Sporting rather than PSG.

I don’t care how young a head coach is, they should have a full driving licence.

Good post redman.

Not to down your post or anything redman but he was required by contract to work his notice 30 days was mooted but it seems the clubs came to a 3 week agreement instead.

I think neither amorim nor gujranwala club wanted to force the issue. Its a sign if united acting in as professional and respectful manner as possible and likewise amorim.
Let's face it the timing is woeful for them so trying to make the best of it is respectful imo and racing a compromise.
Let's hope ruud can lead us to 3 wins in the meantime.

gujranwala?
02 Nov 2024 05:26:08
I feel like it’s in everybody’s best interest for him to start in mid-November. Sporting get more time to find his replacement, Ruud gets more time to show what he can do at a big club, and, perhaps most importantly, we give him the best possible chance to get off to a strong start.
The last thing we need is him losing his first game against Chelsea, as the press would have a field day. This way, he has a few weeks to work with the squad before a ball is even kicked and starts with three very winnable games. Of course, we then come up against City, Spurs, and Arsenal in the following five matches.

Spenno
With all our issues we have have gifted away 5 or 6 points imo and should be in a much better position. I also think a lot of the teams above will drop many points and no one is going to run away with anything this year.
I don't buy into the notion of the players being not good enough and we will click at some point. Add players coming back from injury and just a better balanced squad, we have shown we can play anyone and beat anyone. Football is a funny thing and some wins lead to more wins a better environment and confidence on the pitch.
I just read What Amorim said and credit to him and very honest and quiet excited to see him walk out. I will not judge him at all until end of season and just hope he settles down and the press and some section of the fans and all the so called tacticos and pundits who can be disruptive leave him alone. I know the press will start their usual bs that's a given but as a base we should not take the bait imo.
I will be the last guy to criticize a line up or formation, leaks about this player not happy ask me if i care honestly etc etc etc. Let the man do his job and start of new chapter for the club.

You're right we 'should' be in a much better position.
But a few sides could say the same. I'm going on the general basis that City and Liverpool will be in the top 4, leaving Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, Spurs at least scrapping for the other two spots. We talk about sides in those positions over the xmas period usually going on to finish thereabouts, although I'd love us to I just don't see us breaking that lot up this season.
Frankly, if he pulls off what ten Hag managed last season ie Euro spot and a cup that would be a pretty decent recovery from where we are now. But of course the table changes very easily from one week to another, a few wins and we'll have gained good ground.
