Hopefully we get confirmation of Amorin soon. If we do what is everyone's opinion on what would be a 'successful' season?

To be honest I will be happy with anything above 8th. As long as there is a marked improvement and a definitive style of play then we can build on that.
Let’s not fool ourselves that whoever comes in will need to turn a rudderless ship rather quickly.

This season is a write off as far as league is concerned. If we have a definitive style of play by the rnd of the season, i will call it successful. Anything in the Europa League will be a bonus.

Successful would be seeing the formation or start to see a structure and pattern, see some good football the development of young players. He wouldn’t have to win anything this season but if he did it would be a big bonus after the horrible ETH mess. let's just hope it gets over the line.

Quite simply I want to feel we have finally found a manager to replace Fergie. A manager that gets United.
It isn't about winning yet at all for me, its about finding a manager whose team excites who brings through youth who is clearly taking us on a wild journey, it will take a few years and will have ups and downs.
Sucess for me is finding our Klopp, a manager who finds a home here and becomes United.
The prioriry is to make Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday great fun again.

Only 7 points off 4th I think?
If he can come in and hit the ground running and pick up a few results we will climb back up the table quick enough. I think if he can get us around 6th/ 7th by January with a couple of additions then we could be well placed to push for top 4. Still plenty to fight for.
30 Oct 2024 09:45:36
There's 3/ 4 of the season to go. We are in all the cups.
If all we needed was a good coach, then I think he should be aiming for a trophy for sure, and a decent position in the league for his first year. 6th?
30 Oct 2024 10:45:30
100% agree with oakbark.
The mentality of thinking a league cup victory is a measure of success for united is wrong imo.
We need to put ourselves in a position to compete for the top prizes league / cl.
Winning tin pot cups and thinking that's success for this club is way off what the fans want.
A team and manager we can be proud of is what I'm looking for. A team that represents the fans and plays with attacking intent.
Most of our last few managers never represented me as a united fan nor did their players or teams.
30 Oct 2024 11:22:07
Ken, do you think we can put ourselves into that mix this season?
A few wins in a row will change the perspective. After Sunday we have a nice few fixtures until arsenal on dec 4th
I think we may surprise ourselves. I think we can be right up there.

I'm always hopeful angel. But the hange in shape is huge so the coaching will the time to pay dividends.
There is an outside chance but I. Skeptical because chins are on the floor and there are massive changes afoot.
I expe t some players to flourish it just depends o how quickly they and the manager can adapt.
It's a tall order considering the mess left behind.
Amorim is coming in after our worst epl manager I our history and the worst in over 50 years so it's not an easy baton to take on.
He had a lot of repairing to do on players mentality.
We are at the lowest ebb ever in the modern era so the only way is up.
30 Oct 2024 11:48:29
Assuming he comes in soon, then trophies etc aren't the measure of success in the short term imo.
This season I would want to see him get us back up well into the top half of the table, but mainly I want to see a clear tactical style emerging, even if it takes a little while for the players to fully adapt to it.
I want to look forward to watching us play again, I want to see a clear identity and style, and I want to see clear improvement in performance. Trophies and league position are less important for this season (within reason) .
30 Oct 2024 11:50:10
Definite style of play, more consistent results and success in Europa League.
30 Oct 2024 12:10:41
Lowest ebb? After 2 trophies. Surely there have been worse years in our history.
I think you are being extremely generous ken.
Things can change quite quickly in this game.
30 Oct 2024 12:36:27
I’ll be happy if the new manager can get us playing good football and avoid relegation.
30 Oct 2024 13:09:17
I think the early (ish) change will be because the board feel we can still make a fist of things. Top 4 is off the table IMO but all cups are still up for grabs.
As an aside, it feels wrong to chuck him in the deep end sunday against a vastly improved Chelsea, especially if he's going to completely mix it up with this new formation. I think he should quietly watch from the stands and soak it all in.
30 Oct 2024 14:03:56
Angel we have never finished as low we did last season and never been as low as we are this season.
Lowest ebb is factually correct.
Never scored less goals.
This is our lowest ebb for 50 years . The narrative he had was we won 2 cups and thinks he was successful. Ergo he is not here anymore.
Totally at odds with expectations from the majority of the fan base.
A good date did not signify a good relationship. A cup won did not signify success at united when the core challenges are so insipid.
30 Oct 2024 17:14:08
Like everyone else, I was hoping for top 4 and a good run at a trophy. The cups are still there, but just enjoying watching us again will do for me this season, and maybe actually sticking the ball in the back of the net!
30 Oct 2024 17:25:08
In fact, scrap my last answer.
If he can instill a clear tactical direction, and get the players consistently behaving and playing like professionals, I'd accept finishing in our current position this season.
Of course if he manages those 2 things, we wouldn't finish in our current position.
30 Oct 2024 18:57:29
I think we are going to win the quadruple, why not got to have a goal.
