If INEOS don't sack him now and when things go from bad to worse 2 months later how stupid will they look. They got 2 chances to get the job done but in trying to be brave, they mess up.

That’s what I find funny, according to the media INEOS don’t want to sack him 2 months after backing him because it makes them look stupid…. how much worse will they look if they don’t now but have to in another month or so. I don’t understand the logic.

My speculative opinion is that their preference is to keep ETH here until the summer. That’s the best time to bring in a new manager because it gives the club time to identify the right person, and allows the incoming manager to come into a fresh season.

The alternatives are:

1. They are rushed into deciding on a new manager. Preferred candidates might not be available, or willing to come in part of the way through the season. If they do bring in a new manager, they will be under immense pressure to fix ETH’s mistakes and produce results, and this could undermine their ability to effectively implement their preferred style of play, etc.

2. An interim manager is appointed, possibly RVN. If the interim does well, there will be pressure to make them permanent. Not only does this undermine Ineos’s recruitment process, we have seen from the Ole situation that interim success does not, necessarily, translate into the type longer term transformation the club needs. If the interim doesn’t do well, it could leave the club in a worse position, or, at best, exactly where they would have been with ETH. But with the added cost of sacking him.

The clamour to sack ETH now is short sighted. I would be shocked if the club weren’t already working on plans to replace him. However, I don’t think bringing in a new manager part of the way through a crappy start to the season is a recipe for success. If results don’t improve, Ineos’s hand may be forced. But I would be far happier to write off this season as a trade off for bringing in the right manager next summer.

Spot on Danny.

All those clamouring and baying for the managers' blood are going to feel a tad foolish should he turn into Fergie V2. Because even the great one had us playing some pretty rubbish football initially.

Not suggesting he will but, just saying.

Ineos have been super tight lipped whilst going about their business. The media made an assumption EtH would be discussed at a pre booked MONTHLY board meeting. The media have been made to look stupid. Fans have been whipped up into a frenzy by the media, by keeping their council Ineos are just showing that the media have no inside track and it’s all click bait.

I believe Ineos gave a statement in the summer about walking into the right decision rather than running to the wrong one. Also we have a recent history of only binning managers when it’s mathematically not possible for them to hit milestones like top 4.

Everyone needs to chill out, if EtH doesn’t meet his KPIs he’ll go, if he hits them he’ll stay. We’ve literally only just go a senior footballing team. The board are obviously happy to give it time, us fans will just have to trust in the people brought in.

Having an opinion is all part of being a fan, it’s gotten very decisive recently and that’s not productive for anyone.

{Ed002's Note - What has it to do with Ineos? None of you seem to grasp the situation at the club.}

How many times its nothing to do with ineos.

10 Oct 2024 16:04:00
Why would anyone feel foolish if he turns into fegie v2?
Will you feel foolish if he doesn't?
I don't think you should. (not for that reason anyway)

10 Oct 2024 16:33:15
If they fire him and the next manager fails they will look foolish. If they don't fire him and he isn't successful, they will also look foolish. If they do fire him now, they will look foolish for not having done so in the summer when the press and the haters told them they should. If they wait until Xmas and fire him they will look foolish because they didn't do it in the summer or now. Basically, anything short of instant success will leave them looking foolish, no matter any of the background circumstances, like financial considerations, availability of a willing suitable replacement etc.

PS. This about how we see Ineos and nothing to do with ETH.

Don't mention INEOS Shaw ?.

Ken I knew you would respond. So effin predictable. Rent free ?.

Angelred: I'm using Ineos as a collective term for the "powers that be" with regard to footballing matters, which I think is fair enough, since a) they are there because of Ratcliffe, and b) the meeting was at Ineos HQ. Of course decisions will be made by those appointed to make them and not Ineos.

Not surprised to be honest that nothing has happened. I think you have to take the emotions out of it and look at things with a bit of objectivity. I know people will say look we are 14th but that's an emotional statement and not relevant.

There are no prizes up for offer in early October. What more relevant is how you play and perform in the money end of the season. If they were awarding trophies before Christmas the united teams of the past and current city team would have won very little.

Changing managers again after 7 games whilst some believe its a must is a bit premature. What's more concerning is the growing list of injuries and vagueness about when the players will be available.

I see England lost, that should give the hoard something to write about and maybe quiet down the noise around us. Obviously the new manager is useless and should be sacked asap :)

Shaw I think most people do the exact same thing. But it seems to annoy people, for some strange reason.

14th is not an emotional statement, it’s a fact. After 7 games we are already out of the title race, not that with ETH and last seasons mess, we were ever going to be in it. The club have spent £600 plus million, I did see a list at €700m euros, bringing in players, big investment this summer and still no sign of life.
Either ETH is very convincing with his process, the board are dithering, the one they want isn’t ready yet or it’s a financial decision not to send him packing.
What is vague is what this process is.
As to England he is an interim manager.
