7 games in and we haven't touched double digits in points. 5 scored 8 conceded and yet there are folks on here who have the audacity to defend this crap. The standards have literally gone down the flush. These folks are part of the problem that Manchester United is in. When the so called fans are happily accepting this then why on earth would anyone associated with the club do anything extra. They will just run the routines, take their wages and go home. So many legendary clubs have folded and if things continue like this, Manchester United will also go down the same path.

Not sure anybody can defend ETH any longer.
We haven’t scored a league goal in the last 3 games, and haven’t looked like scoring either. The players purchased are bang average, recruitment is a joke, even under this new regime.
Zirkzee would be lucky to get 5 goals a season. Ugarte can’t even get on the pitch. Maz looks ok, but that’s about it. And de ligt has been torn apart more than once.
And this all on top of the previous 2 years of awful players purchased. Antony is awful, Martinez seems to be getting worse. Casemiro is gone. Mount was a waste of money. No left back for about a year. I’m. It even sure the keeper is really any better than De Gea. It’s been years of purchasing players and we are still starting Maguire and Evans at the back!
They can’t all be bad players, well not as bad as they look right now. Must be a coaching and confidence thing.
If ETH was in charge of Man City for a year I reckon he’d have them finishing mid table.
He has to go. I don’t care if they can’t get the new guy they want. The kit man could probably do a better job at this point.

I think I would agree with the opinion that the signings are poor. Hopefully I will be proved wrong, but I don't think we have signed one outstanding player that can make a difference to the team since Eth took charge.

No one’s defending what’s happening but choosing to back the manager over the players due to the same thing happening time and time again. Fergie choice, LVG who’s cv is better than 99% of premier league managers, Jose, arguably in the top 3 premier league managers of all time and a Club legend. We’ve seen it all before and that 5 mins of Rashford getting booked (wasn’t a yellow IMO anyway) his silly foul that could have been and then his demeanour when being substituted for me summed up everything that is wrong with him and others.
I can accept ETH is likely to move on as I’m sure other who are behind him but I don’t see a change until bigger things within the club change and the chosen INEOS lot need more than 3 months to do that. But the regular ETH out brigade will be copying and pasting the same posts with the next manager no doubt and claiming “they didn’t want him in the first place” and “wasn’t their first choice” about whoever comes in and doesn’t win the league next season.

What makes you think any fans suggesting that more time is needed are happy with the current performances and results?
I expected more progress under EtH than we have seen to this point.
I accept that it doesn't happen over night and there have been a plethora of issues the manager has had to deal with.
That said I would hope that the players he has signed would be performing better than they currently are.
I think this squad is a long way away from being good enough to challenge for major honours, but I do think it has more quality than we are seeing right now.
For me the biggest issue is an inability to find a balanced midfield that doesn't have at least one obvious and glaring weakness.
Am I happy with the current performances? Absolutely not, but I'm also not convinced that sacking the manager now and replacing him with one of the options available (either permanent or temporary) will see a significant improvement beyond a month or so of new manager bounce. After which the same issues will restrict and hinder the next manager.
Do I think EtH is the answer? Not really, but I don't think sacking him is the answer either.
I'm not happy to watch these performances, but I try and make decisions with my head and not based on emotions.

I don't think the players are as bad technically as being made out. I really do think they need better coaching and someone (not Bruno) to really lead the team on the pitch.

Shappy,
When looking at the bench today, please let us have your thoughts why his purchases were not good enough to play? Is that progress?

I don’t think anyone expected change ‘overnight’.
But we are now a chunk into his third season and we are playing probably the worst football I’ve seen here, period. And I include the Van Gaal era!

And let’s not forget the fact that we are already 10points behind top place but only 5 above relegation. Will not need too much more of this dirge before we are well in the poop!

Lack of goals comes from what the front 3 are doing atm. I personally think Garna and hoiland are miles a long way off being the finished article. Hoiland is 2/ 3 years away for me as being the finished article and takes far too many touches and lacks that Smootness of a finished article. Garna whilst he gets a 10 for effort and runs a lot is still very young and his decision making is a long way from being a top winger. Both hang on to the ball far too long.
AS fans we can have a bias and think they are better than they are at the moment and some blame it on the coaching. I have to disagree with that sentiment as both do so many things in key moments that snuffs out an attack starting with taking far too many touches and not looking for a pass. The pass is almost the last thing on Garna mind.
They are both work in progress and our attack will not be silky as some want until both of them get better in some areas. Both are better if they have space and running into but both struggle against a set defense and lack of space and don't move the ball quick enough and give away possession.

ETH thought we were “very good”
The man is deluded.
07 Oct 2024 07:46:55
That’s not true at all @Ports. Deeply unfair. It seems everyone in here accepts he has to go now. All it demonstrates is we all differ in levels of patience and belief in his abilities. Also, maybe some were more willing to put their neck on the line much earlier than others to question his suitability to the club. Who knows. If he’s not sacked and goes on a 20-game unbeaten run after the international break then we’ll all look stupid.
Always seems such a shame that differing opinions can’t be treated with less hostility in here. We have no skin in the game. Seems it’s too important to be right rather than contribute to an interesting discussion.

You like the parsnip man. Take what you need and ignore what you don't need. The man said good defense not good offense.

It's not just a personal opinion Amad that Garnacho and Hojlund are 2/ 3 seasons off being the finished artcle - they are miles off that, and from what I've seen Zirkzee is even further behind. Can anyone honestly see a 20+ striker amongst those? And if the answers are they're not those types of players, why didn't we try to get one instead of Zirkzee? He is bang average.

Ports you can copy and paste your defence of eth over and over just as well.
07 Oct 2024 13:16:07
There's a difference however Ken, your criticism is of ETH as an individual, my defence along with others has always been a defence of the role of Manager at the club with the state the club is in because of the Glazers and their poor leadership over however many years. It's all personal with you and the others.

Well said Ports ?
Stay the course, the plastics will melt into the gutter eventually.
