Good post DLIB. You hit the nail right on the head. The subs really killed off the game. Zirkzee i thought was the key and he was the first one off and after that it was really poor.
Its now like the ingredients are there but either the chef is not aware what he needs to be cooking or he is just really poor and simply incapable of doing anything.

I think we are still missing quality in depth in certain positions/ roles.
Eriksen's ability to progress the ball through midfield has been key in our performances against Southampton, Barnsley and Palace.
But he doesn't have to legs to play every game or even a full 90 minutes at the intensity of the EPL.
Beyond Eriksen though we don't have anyone who can progress the ball forward through passing with the same quality and consistency.
Likewise, Zirkzee offers fantastic link play, but Højlund is a very different kind of striker. At the start of the season Mount and Bruno were playing as rotating false 9's.
While Amad has been our most creative player this season. We have Rashford and Garnacho as other wide options, but both are more finishers than creators. We don't have another creative wide option beyond Amad.
We ideally need two of those three (Eriksen, Amad, and Zirkzee) on if we are going to be good going forward. Next summer adding depth in those areas will be key.
Until then we will struggle when it comes to making changes from the bench.

Save the mooted move for Xavi Simons crumbled, he'd have added some creativity in a few positions.
Other than a top no.9 which we haven't had for some time I think we've got most of the ingredients, just need to find the right broth.

Hopefully Mount can give us a boost in midfield.

When fit he would be in my team Salford.
