Just our luck. All these injuries coming back then we get hit by a mosquito-borne infectious disease.

Malacia interests me greatly. There’s a reason the club haven’t gone in for a new LB yet. Whatever challenges he can get over, there is a good player in there. Never really got a run of games going to get used to the pace of the Premier League. Takes time to actually adapt to match conditions at the level above he’s used to.

Malacia did very well when he signed and pushed Luke Shaw to up his game. Will be wonderful to have him and Shaw fit and also Mazroui and Dalot. Good options.

Malacia did a good job initially pushing Shaw for a starting place and didn't really do anything wrong when he played.
Whether he can get back to his best form and kick on with us remains to be seen.
I suspect the reason the club didn't sign another LB this summer is a combination of lacking funds, and also justifying buying a 4th LB for the squad without any of the others leaving.
Young Harry Amass is highly thought of and they supposedly want to create a pathway for him.
I'd imagine at least one or maybe even both of Shaw and Malacia will leave next summer, with a new LB signing and more time for Harry Amass in the first team.
I hope Malacia gets back to full fitness and into form. But that might just be to facilitate an exit.
