Liverpool fan here in peace asking a genuine question.
What is your view on Mainoo. I have seen him play a bit in the EPL, moreso for England.
I genuinely don't see the fuss being made of him, sure he is young and neat and tidy but I see nothing special in him at all and if he was playing for a lesser team he would be nowhere near the England squad.
Can you guys please let me know what I am missing?

Utterly clueless.

Otts,
Good try, I’m sure someone will bite.

Otts, just rewatch last season's FA cup match where you were dumped out.
Also the brilliant goal he scored against your club in the league.

Not sure if your fellow posters on the Liverpool pages agree with you Otts:
Bill: “honestly a cracking young player and should have a big future ahead”
Red Flyer 69: “Fernandez is good enough to get into our first XI. Mainoo I would say the same. ”
MK Scouser: “Mainoo has great potential. ”
The wonderful Ed25: “Elliot i like but defensively not as good as Mainoo” and “come on MK, Mainoo walks into the Liverpool side mate. ”
Other posters from Liverpool page:
“hate to admit it too but Mainoo is some player. ”
“I thought he was exceptional in the FA Cup game against us and mostly came out on top on the midfield battle. Utd have a real gem on their hands with him and Garnacho. ”.

Wallace, I salute you sir ?.

He's an excellent player, very calm and talented. probably been utds best player for 6 months. Had a good euros so uts obvious that you didn't watch him. Liverpool would bite their hands off to have him.

Looks like a wind up but a couple of brief comments. Mainoo has a massive talent and one I like is when he turns players with ease and runs through the lines, something I don’t see in many if any present day players. It’s important he has the correct players next to him and the manager of Utd or England use his skill set.

Just to reply to all of the above. Mainoo and Elliot are 2 completely different players so that comparison is meaningless and anyway that doesn't make one or other of them good or bad players. Not saying Mainoo is a bad player at all but a bit overhyped. Disagree that he would get in our MF atm!
Genuinely wasn't here to wind up people I just don't see he is anything special!

Elliot?

Drop by again when you have a sensible question.
Nearly everybody from experts to fans can see it maybe you can't. Perhaps everybody in the world of football is wrong and your right. But I doubt it.
09 Sep 2024 17:04:30
Otts, let me, perhaps naively, answer genuinely; I don't think he is over-hyped. Maybe you need to watch him some more.

Every decent young player is overhyped, every new thing is overhyped on the modern world, new band, new film, new TV show, new game.
Mainoo is what he is, which is a youngster with a lot of potential, with a lot to learn but for his age he is very very good.

Liverpool fan here and I'm a bit disappointed that Wallace put what I said as "other posters" in his post above :')
Anyway, on the topic of Mainoo, I stand by what I said and he truly is a gem. By far the best midfielder you have currently and was carrying Casemiro in the last game against us. He looked much better once Casemiro came off and Collyer came on, albeit absolutely knackered which led to the area that led to the goal. If we had him in our team, I think he definitely be in the mix to start and we would be gushing about him like he's the next Gerrard.

Sorry not to credit you Dracred! I copied and pasted your comment from an archive that was a thread devoid of names.
Looking promising for Liverpool this season!
