So apparently, according to the faithful, Rabiot wants to earn €10m Euros from a three year contract - which would apparently cost around £25.3m to cover - a little over £162k per week.
That's less than half what it costs the club for Casemiro each week, less than Antony and Maguire, a little more than Eriksen and Shaw.
Any takers?

Ahmad said we were not interested. If there is no interest then that's it. Probably would have had to shift either cas or ericksen first but that never happened.
Shame Imo good player. Much better than most our midfield options. But we are sailing too close to breaking psr.

Yeah, fair one.
It's such a shame we can't just sell some hotels to blag our way out of a corner.

Tumble
I only posted what Romano said. I think what people post in terms of cost is very simplistic as ed002 likes to say stay out of it. There is a lot more to these things than what people think and I will not pretend to know how it works and what are all the cost.
Romano's words and not mine Rabiot will cost 70/ 80 million euros to a club signing him. I recall Milner got 13 mill upfront signing for liverpool as a free years ago so I would assume Rabiot front end signing cost would be pretty high.
Its like when people say we got eriksen on a free, I am sure there was other cost besides the wages that gets mentioned. No such a thing as a free anything in life :)

Its the international break and we got beat up by Liverpool going into the break. They are going to write about all kinds of stuff with very little substance imo.
ie cas, antony which is another way of having go at ETH. Tuchel story, something on rash, onana, sancho etc etc did I miss something it early:)
On a serious note most teams are done with players coming in or out and have set up their stall until Jan window Imo. I rate Rabiot and think he would be perfect for a Mainoo rotation type squad player but don't see it happening. Age, wages and cost.
Many here would be the first to criticize the club and recruitment if he does not work out as his wages and age will make it prohibitive to moving him on. Remember cas was excellent first year and now everyone wants his head.
I would assume our key focus is getting players back whilst integrating the new players and getting this team to gel. We have plenty in this squad to have a good year and its on the Manager.

Would I take Rabiot on a short term deal (2-3 years)? Absolutely. He's a very good player who would add quality to our weakest area in the squad.
Will the club sign him? I highly doubt it. I also doubt that the reason they won't sign him will be down to money.
Reports seem to suggest that the club have been able to get themselves into a good position with PSR, with further savings to likely be made next summer with more departures.
They could if they wanted afford to bring in Rabiot. I just don't think he fits their plans right now.
They seem to be targeting younger players who will grow and develop together as a team over the next few years.
Rabiot would be a player who takes up a place in the squad, be on high wages, and would need replacing in a couple of years time.
They seem happy to accept taking a backwards step in the short term to build for the long term. Moving away from that short termism thinking that leads to overpaying for a player just to try and meet some arbitrary target this season.
Maybe they see Collyer as a better option for the club. He's low risk with potentially high reward. Low wages, more content to be a squad option this season, and if he doesn't get to the level we need he can be sold for a good profit to help further balance the clubs finances. While if he does get to the level we need then we have a quality, homegrown player on lower wages, who hasn't cost anything to sign and who probably has a stronger connection to the club (certainly more likely to have a stronger sense of loyalty to the club that gave him a chance and helped him build his career) .
Whereas Rabiot would likely go the same way as Eriksen. Good for a season, maybe two. Then drop off and be on high wages while not really contributing much, with the club unable to move him on due to his high wages.
Which let's be honest is Rabiot's modus operandi, having left every club he's ever been at for nothing when his contract expires.

But we’ll need Rabiot’s signing on fee to sack EtH at Christmas won’t we?

More misinformation shappy. Psr changes compelling next season. Please keep up.
07 Sep 2024 13:43:10
Shappy, paragraph 1 you would absolutely sign rabiot? in paragraph 47 is it you say he will be poor after a season maybe 2. So why would you absolutely sign him.
Flip flop arguing both sides with yourself.
Shappy jeyckle wants to sign him shappy Hyde doesn't????.

the numbers posted by the OP are made up nonsense. Rabiot will cost 50 million € in wages alone for 3 years. Saudi beckons.

Spenno has a point, the club will not back themselves into a corner where they want to sack ETH but can’t afford to.
