Ed077,
I don’t think anybody hates Mctominay, and most would have been ok with him staying on for another year if we couldn’t find a buyer, but we are never going to progress to where we want to be with him in the team so if someone wants to buy him then we are right to let him go. Certainly no hatred, I can’t see how any United fan can hate him for his effort, but I think most can see he’s not good enough.
{Ed077's Note - I can see the PSR value of his sale but there are at least 2 senior midfielders at the club who deserved moving on before McTom. Plus he's shown to be more useful coming on from the bench than the options we've kept. But I guess there being no real suitors for the likes of Casemiro and Eriksen proves my point well enough ?

I think you have to see Scott and the others as totally separate, just because Case and Eriksen aren’t good enough doesn’t mean Scott was, none of them will be at the club in 18 months time but Scott would have left for free if we didn’t sell him this summer.
It’s a process and will take longer than 1 window to complete, I think we are short this season but will challenge for top 4 but another 2 windows similar to this one and we will be in a much stronger position. I’m yet to be convinced that will be with the same manager.

Ed077,
I think you've summed it up well.
I wouldn't have been against Ericsson and Anthony leaving on loan. Although it was perhaps a little too late in the window for them to go. But with Anthony it doesn't really matter if he stayed or left. No one would notice.
{Ed077's Note - I like Eriksen but honestly, would anyone notice if he made the 25 man squad or not? I would prefer someone like Collyer get those sparse minutes rather than him and I would guess he too would prefer to move elsewhere and okay more regularly if given a choice. But the worrying ones are Antony and Casemiro. Because if we can't move them on, we are stuck with them for 2/3 years more on big wages ?

We have no chance of making the top four
Our midfield is not strong enough and Dalot at left back is not working. Ugarte may help.

I also wonder if McT had expressed a desire to play more - approaching the time in his career where if he is going to be the main man in midfield, it's now. And doubt he would get it at United.
