If they can move Sancho out either loan, paying all wages or full sale, Rabiot might be the one to come in, on a free but high wages, just depends what's left in the pot?

Signing Rabiot will not be dependent on raising money through sales or any further savings made on wages.

The club have more than successfully reduced the wage bill to comfortably afford signing Rabiot on a free.

The case with Rabiot will probably depend more on whether Eriksen leaves (to create space in the squad) and whether a deal can be agreed at the cost the club value him at.

He'd be coming in as 3rd/ 4th choice option in midfield behind Mainoo, Ugarte and possibly even Casemiro. As such the club won't agree to pay him 300k a week to be a squad option.

If he'd agree a wage in the 150-180k per week range then a deal can probably be struck.

Likewise Eriksen will probably have to leave to make space.

As Rabiot doesn't have to be signed before the deadline tonight it is a deal United can sit on until after the window closes to see who has left and if they need to bring a player like him in.

Can't see united going for Rabiot, asking for too much in wages think there is more chance on Sterling coming than him.

Rabiot is a starter in a pretty talent stacked French team, if he were to sign I can’t see him being 3rd or 4th choice.

Probably wouldn’t start every game, but Mainoo shouldn’t be starting anywhere near the amount of games he does, he’s only young and needs rest sometimes.

if we have taken any clue from this window, Ineos will not sign older players on a large wage. Even if they have a good first season they tend to be the focus of fans ire to get rid off and difficult to shift given their wages.

I realize it makes life harder and you end up doing makeshift stuff and playing players out of their natural positions but that's comes with complete change in strategy of how you conduct our transfer business and its growing pains.

Its really meaningless to talk strategy and change if you go don't stick to it when you hit your first hurdle.

malacia is back training and shaw must be close to getting back.

watch for amas and lacey who looks so much bigger suddenly this season and suspect they will feature at some point.

Best thing I have seen on social media regarding Sancho to Chelsea. "Our Mason Mount revenge is on"

Why should Mainoo's age suggest he should play less and rest? If anything the kids can go on all day. It's whether we should be depending on them at that age that's more of an issue IMO.

We cannot be over reliant on Mainoo while he is still developing, otherwise you risk stress fractures and burnout.

I think one of the few exceptions to overplaying youngsters was Rooney, but Fergie always said he was the exception because he was so physically well developed. Both Saka and Bellijgham seem to be in the Rooney robust category, but even Bellingham is now picking up injuries maybe from the amount of games he plays.
