All this talk this morning about maybe doing a swap deal with Chelsea for Sancho and Sterling coming to us, does anyone on here think Sterling is still any good.

while personally i think he isn't too bad a player still i wouldn't want him blocking the way for Garnacho or Amad playing.

Doubt a swap deal would happen anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only Rashford can do that and is.

26 Aug 2024 10:59:31
my view of something like this is zero probability. Goes against everything ineos is trying to undo. They want older players on high wages gone with Bruno being the exception.

Bringing in sterling who is on 350k a week at Chelsea even if he were to take a wage cut of let's say 250k a week as a left sided winger is not plausible imo.

personally think Sancho will go to Juve on a loan with some form of a obligation to buy and we will contribute to his wages or some form of a pay off.

26 Aug 2024 11:27:10
Sterling hasn't done well at Chelsea and Chilwell is injury prone.

I'd say no to that, or go for other players.

26 Aug 2024 11:31:21
Don't get the love in for amad. Sancho is a better player than amad imo.
Sterling us a miles better player than amad and I Digby very much amad will retire with a better trophy cabinet than sterling.
Do I want us to sign sterling. No I don't particularly but if I had a choice of who to play every week sterling would be miles ahead of amad or sancho.

Bank holiday, slow news day.

Sterling is an upgrade on Sancho for sure, but isn’t any better than what we already have.

We need another summer to permanently move on the likes of Sancho and Antony (amongst others), and then we should see a quality winger coming in.

26 Aug 2024 12:05:18
Sterling is a no for me. Never good enough.

Keep Sancho if we’re going to do that deal.

26 Aug 2024 12:21:24
I am with Ahmad I think Sancho will go to Juventus or maybe PSG on loan with an obligation to buy, he is definitely going out of the door this week if we see a replacement come in then it will be a loan.

26 Aug 2024 12:36:06
You think sterling is not better than Anthony and amad?
Amad is not as good a player as sancho and I doubt he will achieve anything like sterling's record if he played for another 20 years.

26 Aug 2024 12:47:39
A loan for Sterling for the season crossed my mind last week when the story of his Chelsea exclusion broke. I can think of worse ideas tbh.
We need to stop thinking about inhibiting our youth, Amad/ Garnacho will still get plenty of games and I imagine would play just as much as anyone we bring in. Winning now is just as important as the future and the side needs a shot to the heart from somewhere.

26 Aug 2024 12:56:54
Ex-Liverpool, ex-City. I'm sure the fans would show plenty of patience with him ?.

26 Aug 2024 12:59:45
Ken you are getting confused between Sterling at city and Sterling now. We aren’t buying the 24 year old version.

26 Aug 2024 13:28:02
Wazza I'm not confused he would offer more than anybody we have bar garnacho at 34.
Amad will not be playing for us in 2 years time because he is not going to make it at united Imo.
Sterling would not be a player I would chase but he us better no imo than amad and Anthony will ever be.

26 Aug 2024 13:52:56
Noucamp you do know he was a Utd fan when he was younger.

26 Aug 2024 14:00:05
Sterling should not be considered, we do not need another older player on high wages especially one that any swap deal would assume we pay £20/ 30m for.
We need to keep to the long term vision, I think over the next year we will see our wingers cleared with Rashford and Anthony out, Garnacho and Amad in with some new players brought.

26 Aug 2024 14:41:53
I'd take Sterling on Amad's wages. Seems to go against the new trend to get someone in on big wages and I don't think he's good enough to be an exception to the rule.

26 Aug 2024 15:18:59
I don't think sterling will sign nor do I think we want to sign him nor do I think we should but to say he is not better than what we have is daft. He is a better player than amad is or Anthony.

26 Aug 2024 15:29:27
Think it would be a fabulous deal tbh. I would swap sancho for wout weghorst .

26 Aug 2024 15:52:48
Blackpool, I'd no idea mate. I'd have no issues with him, but if he struggles he wouldn't be getting much sympathy from some of our fans thanks to his back catalogue!

26 Aug 2024 16:48:10
Neither Chilwell or Sterling looks like decent longer term options.

Sterling declined in his last 18 months at City, and hasn't done anything to arrest that decline at Chelsea.

We need to buy players with their best years ahead of them, not behind them.

While Chilwell has actually missed more games injured over the past few seasons than Luke Shaw. Pointless bringing in another injury prone fullback.

26 Aug 2024 19:04:12
We don't need either if those long term and might not get much out of them short term so stay well clear.
Shappy a squad like ours needs knowhow and experience. Winners at the highest level. We have only casimero and Evans I think currently. Deligt and maz will help in that regard but I'd be very pro getting a couple of good signings at late 20s with big winning experience at the highest level. Not just good journey pros players who can play in 1st 11.

26 Aug 2024 19:05:20
I don't always agree with Ken, but I do here. It ain't going to happen but Sterling is a far bigger threat than anyone bar Garnacho who for some reason is sat on the bench. Rashford, Sancho, Antony have all been poor, whilst Amad has potential but just that right now.

27 Aug 2024 02:02:36
If you look at the wingers only Garnacho shows any real threat going forward, should we have strengthened in that area during the summer.

27 Aug 2024 08:24:28
NO! Just NO!
