Lots of reports that Ugarte has been left out of the PSG squad for this weekend and that he is pushing for the move to go through.
If this does get across the line, is he the difference between finishing in Europa League places or CL?

I think so. It’s a critical position.

If he's any good, yes. Anyone know why psg are willing yo let him go after 1 season? Genuine question as i don't follow the french league that closely.

Because they have vitinha, ruis and now neves and also the young Brazilian guy who i think will be getting minutes this year. They are stacked generally as a squad and amused they keep buying more players.
He played quite a bit last year but I hear he does not get on with their manager at all and the manager is real piece of work by many peoples account.

Urgate is more of an old school centre mid - breaks up play, sits with the centre backs, passing is limited but efficient i. e. knows that his job is to move it quickly to better passers.
PSG obviously decided that they don’t need that type of player in their midfield, and signed Neves who is better on the ball. United, in contrast, need a player like Ugarte. Teams kept getting in behind last season because all the mids pushed up, leaving huge spaces in between the centre backs and the rest of the team. Ugarte occupies this space, and would add a lot more protection that Casamerio or Arambat.

I'd say he is the difference between competing for the Europa spots and competing for CL spots - nothing's a given.
A player of his type will allow Mainoo to focus on becoming the absolute balling metronome we're all so keen to see.
A player of his type will allow the No8s to focus more on crafting attacking phases and, moreover, provide a consistent level of security that might allow Bruno to return to his very best - the No10 who ruined everyone.
A player of his type will happily sit and aggressively lead a defensive unit that could well be a mixed bag again.
Additionally, he's a more mobile player than Casemiro with an excellent injury history (much needed in our squad) .
One player I believe we miss greatly is Fred. I know he got some stick on here, but that guy is a workaholic and we do miss that energy - a robust and effervescent midfielder who likes to get stuck in with the gritty side of football.
Now, imagine a player like Fred, but make him taller, bigger, better under pressure, and give him the discipline and nous of an actual DM - that's what Ugarte would give us.
Irrespective of all the other signings, Ugarte could well be that handy little skeleton key that unlocks so much.
He's not a Rodri or a Rice, but we're not at that table.
He, for United, will be how Fabinho was for Liverpool - a decent DM with no desire for the spotlight, someone who will put in the dirty work and do the simple stuff that helps others to flourish. Liverpool might not have won the CL and PL were it not for his industry and energy in midfield.
Wazza used the perfect word for the position - critical - and Ugarte, imo, is the very best option available to us on the best table we can reach ATM.

Ugarte is a Kante style player who you can leave as a lone holding midfielder who will cover every blade of grass. Would help us not be so over run in the middle and would give freedom to Mainoo/ Fernandes to be more attacking.
Whilst he will not necessarily do anything flashy with the ball, he is comfortable with it so will not go hiding and will make himself available.
He will work well with the central defenders, clever enough to allow them to step out when progressing the ball and cover them.
As has been said I think he could be the difference between us getting top 4 or not. Would be interesting whether he would result in Casimero/ Mctominay leaving but whether this year of next we will need to replace these with another CM.

I'm not sure if he's the difference, but he'd certainly help the cause.
He'd give us a really good, potentially great CDM. Someone who looks well suited to pairing well with Mainoo and helping get the best out of him.
I hope it's a deal that happens, but if not then I'm sure they'll find someone else who can come in and improve us this season.

Also with him holding his position in the centre of midfield our fullbacks could push on and support the attack.

Oi Hucknell, you spelt Sunak wrong.

No Sancho in our squad either. Both moves make perfect sense for both players and both clubs. Just get it done.

Ork, we don’t miss Fred one inch. Put very simply……. he was utterly useless.

Not sure he was that good fireman your doing him a favour there.
