Very quiet here and assuming everyone is a bit unsure of how things will go given last season. This is a team that finished 3rd two years ago and has improved in many areas and if we can avoid major injuries across the pitch, pretty optimistic on the season.
It will be a very long season and potentially 55/ 60 games, we will need a very deep squad and everyone will get their minutes and chances imo. GGMU.

Ahmad, I’m feeling confident for the season. I base this off the business we have done and the changes of the club and hopefully the culture but also looking at other clubs and the situations they are in this season. I replied to a post on the discussion page about other teams. City’s inquest starting September, Chelsea new manager and what’s there starting 11, Liverpool new manager and not currently been back in this window, Villa with CL football. For me Arsenal are probably favourites but I just feel there is still a question mark on them, no natural number 9 maybe? Tottenham are Tottenham and Newcastle may get affected if Howe to England talks start up. I think we’ve improved, if we can get consistency then I feel a good season is ahead of us and Top 3 is more than achievable with a couple of good cup runs. If we get Ugarte in then suddenly I think other peoples thoughts may change too.
So with all that in mind, fully expecting United 0-1 Fulham later on tonight ?.

Most are optimistic.
I don't like or agree with rhetoric coming from the manager. It's too negative and there is no need for it. Imo he should be talking himself and the players up.
He got 4 players he wanted with more to come.
Ww should be ready. Not at out best for a few weeks but should be ready to start.
Top 3 is my expectation .

I’m the opposite. I’m not massively confident. Still extremely unsure ETH is the guy to get the team to the next level.
As it stands, albeit with the window still open, I don’t see a team that different to last. You could have prime Maldini at the back and it still wouldn’t help unless you have a solid midfield.
Still a massive question mark on where the goals coming from?
We can’t play like we have against city for the entire season. So we need to see how the team performs against teams that sit back and we are expected to beat. Like Fulham tonight. Last season we would get countered on for the entire game and give up 20+ shots a game. That can’t continue this season.
Also still have major doubt over Onana. Think he will give up some points and losses.
But let’s be honest, we are still miles away from competing for the league or champions league. So I’m not overly bothered about top 4, obviously want to finish as high as possible. Just want to see vast improvements to the style of play.

I'm optimistic of a higher league finish and the next step up is logically back to top 4, qualifying for the CL. It should be well within grasp, but (assuming City and Arsenal are right at up there) I'm sure the likes of Spurs, Villa, Liverpool and even a few others will be thinking exactly the same.
I wonder which Marcus Rashford is in store for us? Two seasons ago this was one of the most in-form players about. Last night I was cheekily perusing the odds on this season's Golden Boot and he was down at 100/ 1! I nearly popped a few quid on then snapped out of it.
16 Aug 2024 09:53:18
That would have been a bad financial decision spenno. ?.
16 Aug 2024 10:16:34
I think Rashford should have until the international break to stake his claim in the starting 11. Personally I’d be starting Garnacho and Amad but I think Rashford will start tonight. But he shouldn’t be allowed extended opportunities to prove himself. And once/ if he is dropped then his reaction and response will be telling.

Utd have addressed deficiencies in the defence but a really strong midfielder is still needed. I want to see us dominate games not just rely on counter attacks. It's a shame Hoijlund is out for a while because we def need a focal point in attack.
I think we will get a first clear idea of how the season might play out when we face Fulham tonight.
Will ETH select players and put them in their best position? Will the whole team play with determination and passion? . if they are lacklustre again then we are in for another hard long season.
16 Aug 2024 10:51:01
I don't think they're is any doubt as to rashford starting tonight.
One of mount or amad won't start. I don't think he will start amad.
16 Aug 2024 11:21:51
Recent tradition dictates that tonight we will go 0-1 down, the fans will get nervous, the team will stutter but ultimately play better in the second half before Bruno levels and Garnacho gets the winner with 10min to go.
16 Aug 2024 11:37:12
At home tonight we are playing Fulham not City. We have to start trusting our defenders and push up. Rashford should be benched and our wide players should be Garnacho and Amad, they have earned it, Rash has not.
The manager should not be trying to take pressure off by saying we are not ready, it’s his job to make sure we are ready. Negative and he won’t get far I suspect with SJR with that.
We won’t make top four unless we address that midfield, fifth or sixth right now. Add a quality midfield player this week and I fancy us to make the top four. Add an experienced striker and an older experienced left back (not to block young players) on top, who will be actually not injured and I fancy we may surprise people. Down to the board.

Salford in our last 4 property games we started rasmus on the bench last 3 games last season includingthe cup final. Maybe our 3 best team performances last year.
Maybe we won't play with a cf more often than not.
It helps Bruno.
It stopped us getting exposed as often.
Maybe rasmus will play a lot less who knows?
16 Aug 2024 12:20:29
Who knows, we could be a disaster or we could actually have a decent year and thing start clicking. You don't know what is going to happen with this lot.
16 Aug 2024 12:47:32
That's just it oakbark.
This lot?
Onana here 1 year
Martinez 2
Yoro 0
Delighted 0
Maz 0
Mainoo 1
Cas 2
Mount 1
Garnacho 2
Rasmus 1
Zirkzee 0
Bruno 5 but you know what your getting.
This is his team his players we should damn well know, he should know for sure.
Most of the ones you refer to won't be in the team most of the time.
You know what your getting if message is clear and everybody is on board.
16 Aug 2024 12:52:46
Keeping Mainoo fit is key.
16 Aug 2024 15:37:36
Cant wait! We are winning the lot ?♂️.
16 Aug 2024 16:01:40
My biggest concern is lack of goals. Hojlund injured, Rashford out of form. Sancho and Antony, the less said the better. That leaves Zirkzee, Amad and Garnacho. Without being too negative, not one looks like a 20+ goals forward player. Hojlund maybe if he gets fit and has better service.
16 Aug 2024 16:33:17
Think Amad deserves to start more than the other wide players but I'm not sure he will. He seems to make a difference when he comes on, maybe he'll be used more in an impact role.
16 Aug 2024 23:20:39
I know everyone is always creaming about Amad, but tonight I think he looked pretty ordinary in my opinion. He has very little top flight experience as well, we shouldn’t forget that. I’m thinking more Nani than Ronaldo.
17 Aug 2024 11:43:37
Well Ken told us that Amad or Rashford won’t start so it was nailed on that both of them would.
Interesting how you said you didn’t like the narrative from ETH Ken but then said exactly what ETH said, best to listen to him rather than read the headlines, he said we won’t be at our best for a while as we aren’t fully ready but will give our all which they did, the headline then was that ETH says united aren’t ready. The ‘rhetoric’ will always be negative as that’s how the press report things on us, best to brush it off most of the time.
