How's everyone feeling about tomorrow? Anyone place any kind of importance on the Community Shield?

It’s a pre season friendly for me, nice to win it but it’s more to see where the squad is at
Personally I’m not confident as again we have players missing and we have a much weaker squad than when we finished the season
As long as the performance is promising and we see an actual pattern to our play.

No more confident than I was before the FA Cup Final, which was 50/ 50 for me.
I like the buzz of the first unofficial game of the season, but it can't be taken as a benchmark with the players barely breaking a sweat and many still vying for moves away.
Bizarrely considering our woes at CB last season we've now got two LESS players in this position (factoring in Yoro's injury) .
I do think we have a more professional team of people dealing with transfers etc but I also think they could have been a bit more decisive and moved on to other targets quicker. If we end up with any of the names that have been circulating for weeks then all well and good but if not it's just de Jong v.2.

Same as above. If we get a couple of injuries then we are in big trouble. Squad actually weaker than last season especially at cb and cm.

You do know the season starts the week after?
If we don’t know where the squad is at, given that apart from 2 players coming in, is the same, then we are in real trouble!

I think we'll get at least 2nd place tomorrow, I can't see us doing any worse than that ?.

I think there is importance to the game, always have.
It counts for nothing but there is a little prestige and a lot of confidence to be gained.
Should be about fine tuning at this point of pre season but we are miles off just having to fine tune.

I know a lot of people have said it doesn't matter, maybe but a good performance gives momentum into the season, and bad performance and all the old questions from the end of last season come flooding back.
We have a lot of first team players whom have only just come back to training, and our first choice transfers seem to have stalled over the last few weeks.
I expect we will see them same inconsistencies as last year with EtH saying he hasn't been able to pick his strongest 11 because of injuries and tournaments.

I feel like we have a fragile positive mood around the club at the minute. Obviously plenty to work on, but generally people are optimistic. New season, new coaches, new management. but i really don't think it will take much for us to revert back to the mood of the end of last season.
For that reason, I think tomorrow is quite important. It would be nice to de-stabilise the pep trophy train and build some scrutiny on the blues.

Both teams have a number of players yet to play a game in pre season yet, it will be a good game to get some minutes in the legs of anyone that didn’t go on tour for both sides, the game means nothing in the grand scheme of things but I’m looking forward to seeing the best players back in the team and seeing what Zirkzee has to offer.
City lost the last 3 community shields and then went on to win the league so not sure it counts for much in momentum either.

It’s City! Not a pre season friendly! Doesn’t matter the situation. Hopefully the players understand that as much as all us supporters do!
