Fulham won't be back for mctominay so I guess we are stuck with him for another season. makes the decision to turn down 30m last year all the more head scratching. No takers for Casemiro, lindelofs wages putting clubs off. if we can't shift some of these then I assume there won't be any incomings. Midfield looks poor again and we are 1 Martinez injury away from a lindelof Maguire cb pairing. ??♂️.

We're doomed, doomed I tell ya!

Ya cause the last brains at the club giving out big contracts and big wages. The only way we can buy players is if we sell. And the ones we buy aren't they trying to pay for over a few years. We are paying now for the last bunch of clowns that ran the club.

Not saying that but u can’t be confident as we know who these players are? They aren’t good enough and we have years of evidence to prove it. We won’t get better until we have better quality in key positions.

Just because they are on the books, does that mean we have to play them?
For instance, let's take Collyer as an example, if deemed good enough to fulfill a role to a better standard than say Casemiro, we can simply leave CAS on the bench/ out of the squad. Admittedly, it is a large weekly outlay for no return, but the upshot is, they will maybe leave in Jan if the message hadn't been made clear enough by now.

We need to bring new players in to fill the first team roles. But we can bring in until some leave. Bit they won't leave until it is clear to them that they won't play because of replacements in place.
It is a mess.
Next summer a few more contracts run out, I hope we don't have to wait to release more players in a free. Woodward and co have some legacy!

Was never going to be easy.
I am actually just hoping
We swap awb for a RB, don't mind either of dumfries or mazraoui.
Possibly sign a cheap cheap LB for 1 year like reguilon or marcos alonso, I see more injuries at LB again and Amass is too young for a full season.
And get money from somewhere to sign a new CB.
I think without midfield signings we can still do, but another season of a deep backline would hurt us the most.
Midfield we have Mainoo (starter), Bruno (starter) with Cas, McTom, Eriksen, Collyer and Mount occupying the third role which is not ideal but fine for now.

Backpass the problem with the players you list is that only one of them is an out-and-out DM.
A lack of proper DM options has hurt us, it's our most pressing position now imo.
I've seen a few say "Mainoo could play there" but it's another square peg in a round hole. He doesn't want to play DM and has said as much.
The good news is it sounds like other options are now being explored beyond Ugarte.

It will take 4 or 5 transfer windows to sort out the mess but at least the new hierarchy seem to have some structure to how transfers are conducted and also in how contracts are set out.

I agree Wazza. Mainoo playing DM, whilst entirely possible, would compromise the midfield from an attacking perspective and would constrain his progress in clearly his/ and most fans preferred position.
Having said that every player is a striker until they have their reins pulled in. I was!

Well at this exact moment we are worse off than last season. Varane and Kim have gone. Yoro has come in but out now so down 2 cb’s. Amrabat has gone so left with just Cas as a dm. Hopefully Collyer can get some game time and push on but unless we can shift players we are buggered really. let's me honest…. Anthony, Sancho, Mount, Eriksen and Cas are all not going to make our starting 11 if a DM were to come in or if Collyer kicked on. That is £1.2M in wages per week sat on the bench. The club need to get them out one way or the other.

Correct PTD. Outs is so important, the club cannot move forward until they go. Last season we should have released wan Bissaka and mcguire and brought in more suitable players. We would have been further along. If we fail again this year then we are just wasting more time.
I think we should have brought more in, then they would have pushed for exit. Another year of expensive wages risked would have been worth it to get some movement.
Hopefully ineos can deliver a busy end if the window. If we drop points in the early matches it will be frustrating.
